Mark Sanchez lives to see another game.

After two days of deliberation, the Jets didn't wait until Rex Ryan's press conference to announce their decision: Ryan has decided to stick with his starting quarterback for Sunday's game in Jacksonville.

The decision comes on the heels of Ryan benching Sanchez last week in favor of third-stringer Greg McElroy, who -- in his NFL debut -- led the Jets on their only scoring drive in a 7-6 win over the Arizona Cardinals.

After the game, Ryan chose not to anoint either McElroy or Sanchez the starter for the foreseeable future. That only helped to fuel speculation that Ryan and members of the Jets' front office were divided on which QB to start.

On Monday, Ryan said told reporters: "I definitely need a little more time to make that decision. I’m comfortable and confident with all three quarterbacks. I think all three guys, well now have proven they can win in this league, with Greg at the end of the game and obviously, Mark’s history here and the way Tim (Tebow) has played. So, I’ve got three guys I’m confident in but I’ll make that decision as the week goes on."

Though Ryan has said he has "three good quarterbacks," it was clear Tebow was never up for consideration for the starting job. The backup quarterback, who was listed as the No. 2 on the depth chart heading into last week's game against Arizona, has played sparingly this season when healthy. And now his availability for Sunday's game in Jacksonville -- his hometown -- remains unclear.
