“Love it, like it, or hate it.”

It’s the game Rex Ryan and QB Mark Sanchez play every Friday when the two sit down with offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer. It started last season when Ryan decided he needed to have more of a hands-on approach with play-calling. Each week, he and Sanchez go through the list of calls from the previous game and Ryan marks the plays they both love.

The coach brought up one play in particular, the one that allowed LaDainian Tomlinson to scamper 21 yards against the Ravens. Schottenheimer, however, didn’t call the play again.

“I really loved this run,” said Ryan. “And we ran it for 21 yards. We only ran it one time. Don’t give the defense too much credit because, trust me, I know the guy on the other side and you can run it again on him.”

The coach also said he was pleased by the effort of the offense during today’s practice.

“The best day we had all week was today,” he said. “They looked really sharp. So that’s really encouraging. I remember this time last week, I talked about I was a little concerned with our passing attack. And it kind of panned out that way. I’m not big on lying, I just tell it the way it is. I think we had an outstanding practice today.”

Despite the nice weather, today’s practice was held indoors. Why? “The focus always seems to be a little better in there,” he said.

The head coach began today’s presser on a personal note: his love of bread.

Unfortunately, due to his LAP-BAND surgery and new diet, the coach is forbidden to touch it. But the good news is he’s now down 60 pounds to 285.
