Rex Ryan was spared last week by Woody Johnson. His twin brother, however, wasn’t so lucky.

On Tuesday, the Dallas Cowboys fired Rob Ryan.

“I’ll be out of work for like five minutes,” Rex’s brother reportedly told ESPN Dallas.

Within minutes of news hitting Twitter, Jets fans began clamoring: “Will Rex hire his brother?”

But as intriguing as weekly Ryan brother press conferences would sound…(OK, who are we kidding, Rex and Rob media days would be epic!)…don’t expect to see a reunion here in Florham Park. Secondary coach Dennis Thurman is expected to replace Mike Pettine, who interviewed Tuesday with the Buffalo Bills.

During his press conference with owner Woody Johnson, Ryan said Pettine’s successor is in-house.

“I have a feeling that, internally, we’re going to run the New York Jets defense,” the coach said. “Period.”

And when asked about Thurman on “Jets Talk Live,” Ryan sang the praises of his secondary coach.

“I am not sure if there is anybody else who could lose Darrelle Revis after two games and still end up 2nd in the NFL in pass defense,” he said of Thurman. “That tells you everything you have to know about this guy. He is a developer of talent, he is guy who can coach the tough player and he can do all those type of things.

"He is about as smart a guy I’ve been around and understands the game more from a former player perspective and a coach. He is a commanding figure in the meetings room. Everybody respects him.”
