FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — Who says Ryan Fitzpatrick can’t sling it?

The 33-year-old quarterback flashed plenty of arm strength Sunday, hitting Eric Decker with a 60-yard pass in traffic during team drills. Later, he threw a perfect spiral down the seam to Decker for a 30-yard completion.

It wasn’t a perfect day for the bearded quarterback (he was baited into an interception by cornerback Buster Skrine), but Fitzpatrick laid to rest any criticisms of his arm. At least for one day.

“I think he’s looked really good, to be honest with you,” Decker said. “He’s definitely throwing it like he was last year. I’m just impressed. It doesn’t feel like we’ve missed any time from him being gone this offseason, which is nice. I’m excited about what this training camp is going to do for us.”

Coach Todd Bowles, however, wasn’t as effusive in his praise of the quarterback-receiver chemistry.

“They’ve got some ways to go,” he said. “We’ve only practiced two days, so he has got a ways to go practicing and we’ve got ways to go chemistry-wise. But they’re talking and they’re making progress and they’re communicating.”

Cornerback Darrelle Revis (wrist) participated in position drills but not 11-on-11s. “We’ll see how he progresses and we’ll try to do a little more next week,” Bowles said . . . Cornerback Dexter McDougle said he dislocated a finger on his left hand this past week, but the reason he sat out Sunday’s practice is because he tweaked his right hamstring . . . After sweating through a three-hour practice in a humid indoor fieldhouse, Bowles forced all players to run at the end of practice. Why the extra exercise? “It’s just camp, getting in better shape,” he said matter-of-factly. “. . . We’ve got to get used to pads. We’ve got to get into shape, so we’ll run certain days. No big deal.”
