The Saints activated linebacker Jonathan Vilma from the short-term injured reserve list Saturday -- meaning he'll make his season debut Sunday at MetLife Stadium against the team that drafted him almost 10 years ago.
Vilma, who was placded on IR with a designation to return in Week 1 after undergoing a preseason procedure on his knee, has been practicing the past two weeks, according to reports out of New Orleans.
The 10-year veteran and three-time Pro Bowler has been dealing with nagging knee injuries for the past few years.
VIlma was the Jets' 12th overall pick in 2004.
