Mark Sanchez said all the right things in front of the cameras Thursday -- namely that Tim Tebow will be a perfect fit for the Jets.

But the starting quarterback, who was not consulted before the trade was made, admitted on the WFAN radio show "Boomer and Carton" that he wasn't sure what to think of the move initially. After several pauses and bouts of awkward laughter, he said: "Uhhh, you know, I was a little curious. I didn't know exactly what was going on."

But after discussing the decision with the Jets' front office, Sanchez said he realized bringing Tebow to the team made more than just football sense. "If you're running a team and your backup quarterback can do five other jobs, I mean, from a business standpoint, you're saving money," he said.

Sanchez said his goals this season are to master the playbook, take care of the football and take his leadership to the next level -- which he's confident he can do.

"In a city like this, it's 'what have you done for me lately?' " said Sanchez, highlighting the fact that Giants quarterback Eli Manning and coach Tom Coughlin were criticized before their Super Bowl-winning season took off after a win over the Jets in Week 16. "That all comes with the territory, and if you can't handle that, I shouldn't be in this position. And I can definitely handle it."

Jets say no to HBOThe Jets declined HBO's offer to be featured on its training camp reality show "Hard Knocks'' this summer, according to a league source. The Jets were on the show in 2010 but turned down this year's offer because it is offensive coordinator Tony Sparano's first season. They declined to appear on the program in 2009 in Rex Ryan's first year as head coach. The Jets are open to being on the program in the future, the source added.
