Santonio Holmes wants to increase his workload

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- Asked about his 44 snaps in Sunday's win over the Buccaneers, Santonio Holmes quickly interrupted the reporter and said with a smile: "Forty-five."
Despite refusing for weeks to commit to being healthy for Week 1, the Jets' mercurial wide receiver made it clear he had kept track of every one of his snaps in their 18-17 regular-season opener. And he made his frustrations over his limited snap count known, too.
"It's football season. It's go time," said Holmes, who added he had the highest film grade of any Jets receiver. "No point of holding anything back right now. But like I said, I have to respect the plan the coaches and the trainers have for me."
Holmes, who had one catch for 13 yards, isn't sure yet if he'll get more playing time Thursday in New England. In the absence of Jeremy Kerley, who was diagnosed with a concussion Monday, the Jets re-signed wideout Ben Obomanu.
"I really don't know," Holmes said. "Depends on how the game plan goes. Up until this point, coach Marty [Mornhinweg] loves to throw the ball. All of our receivers are on deck this week and we all have to be ready to sub in and out for guys when needed."
Winslow finds a home
Kellen Winslow was the Jets' leading receiver against Tampa Bay. But had things gone differently in New England, the tight end likely wouldn't have found his way to Florham Park.
"Right team, wrong timing," said the veteran, who played in one game last season before severing ties with the Patriots because he did not want a backup role. "It wasn't worth it with me sitting."
