Smith signs tender
Eric Smith is back on board.
The restricted free agent safety signed his tender today and will earn $1.176 million in 2010. Smith, a third-round pick in 2006, is expected to compete with new addition Brodney Pool and possibly James Ihedigbo for time at safety opposite starter Jim Leonhard.
Remember, Smith started four games in 2009 and supplanted the since departed Kerry Rhodes as a starter for a spell beginning at the end of November. Overall, Smith combined for 48 tackles, six passes defensed and one interception.
