Source: Bills' Johnson fined $10,000
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- Stevie Johnson's wallet got a little lighter Wednesday. According to a source, the NFL fined the Bills receiver $10,000 for his touchdown celebration during the Jets' 28-24 win Sunday.
Johnson pretended to pull out two pistols and shoot himself in the thigh. He limped around the end zone for a few steps in reference to Plaxico Burress' 2008 nightclub incident that led to 20 months in prison. Then Johnson spread his arms as Santonio Holmes does after he scores. Johnson fell as if he were a plane crashing, which bothered some Jets.
Burress said he had no ill feelings toward Johnson.
"I'm a fan of his," he said Wednesday. "I think he's a very charismatic guy as far as the things he does for celebrations, and trying to have fun and bring a different spirit to his team. I think he's going to continue to grow as a player and a person."
