During the 20-minute portion allotted to the media, Gates was spotted in special teams and receiver drills. But according to the Jets injury report, he did not practice. He also caught a pass one-handed. McKnight, who wore his jersey and sweat pants during practice, has a noticeable limp (obviously). He spent the entire media portion of practice right next to a group of defensive backs and running backs during one particular drill. Running backs coach Anthony Lynn even warned him to move back for fear of getting hurt.

Rex Ryan won’t tip his hand when it comes to his running game.

The Jets coach announced Bilal Powell and Joe McKnight won’t practice Wednesday, but that’s the extent of the information Ryan offered.

After undergoing an MRI Monday, Powell confirmed he suffered a separated shoulder in the Jets’ Week 6 win over the Colts. Though the second-year running back said he didn’t know the extent of the injury or his status for their upcoming Patriots game, Powell is not expected to play Sunday.

McKnight also underwent an MRI Monday on his ankle. He reportedly suffered a high ankle sprain, but the team has yet to announce the results.

Both running backs will not practice, along with NT Sione Po’uha (back), C Nick Mangold (ankle), NT Kenrick Ellis (MCL sprain), WR Clyde Gates (shoulder) and S Eric Smith (knee sprain).

TE Dustin Keller, WR Stephen Hill, LB Bryan Thomas (hamstrings) and LB Bart Scott (toe) will be limited in practice.
