Veteran defensive end Vinny Curry will be back playing football after missing last season with a rare blood condition that required his spleen to be removed.

Curry re-signed with the Jets on Wednesday, the team announced.

The Jets signed Curry last season to be a leader in the locker room as well as on the field. However, the Jets' doctors diagnosed him with a blood disorder in July. Curry revealed his health issues last August on social media.

Curry said that the original prognosis was that he would return to football in September. He had complications though. Blood clots had formed, and he was on blood thinners.

The doctors, however, told Curry that he would make a full recovery and be able to resume his career. He never gave up hope.

.“I’m back, baby,” Curry said in a video posted by the Jets. “I’m ready to take flight and kick some [butt] on the way.”

Curry, 33, was a second-round pick of the Eagles in 2012. He spent eight seasons with Philadelphia and one with Tampa Bay. He has 32.5 sacks in his career.

The Jets initially signed Curry to a one-year, $2 million contract last March.
