Wayne Chrebet settles dispute with Labor Dept.

An attorney for a Hempstead restaurant owned by former New York Jets player Wayne Chrebet says his client has reached a tentative agreement settling a labor complaint filed by the U.S. Department of Labor.
The Labor Department had accused Chrebet of paying employees at Social Sport Kitchen in Hempstead less than minimum wage since March 2010. The complaint, filed Friday, also accuses Chrebet of failing to keep accurate records and pay employees time and a half for overtime.
Labor spokesman Ted Fitzgerald confirmed that an agreement has been reached in the case. He said he can't divulge the terms of the settlement before it's approved by a judge.
Chrebet's attorney, Steven Sack, of East Meadow, also declined to release any details. He said the suit "was resolved amicably, and the restaurant did not admit any wrongdoing."
"The restaurant is complying with the law in all respects," Sack added.
Chrebet, a former Jets and Hofstra University wide receiver, retired from professional football in 2005.
