Francisco Liriano dominates in winter league
Twins lefthander Francisco Liriano hasn't been the same dominating pitcher he showed before Tommy John surgery. Liriano is coming off a season where he had a 5.80 ERA and his fastball is averaging just over 90 m.p.h. the last two seasons.
Liriano has showns glimpses of the pitcher we saw before the surgery in the Dominican Winter League. Liriano threw five scoreless innings and allowed one hit with 10 strikeouts for Leones del Escogido to a 5-3 win over Gigantes del Cibao in the deciding game of the Dominican League title game.
He went 3-1 with a 0.49 ERA with 47 strikeouts in 37 innings in seven playoff starts. He hit 95 m.p.h. consistently.
