JACK WAGNER
Swimmer of the Year
Holy Trinity

Senior
Wagner placed first in the 200 individual medley (1:49.57) and the 100 freestyle (44.82) at the Federation meet. Both times were just shy of his own state records in the events. He also swam the anchor leg on the sixth-place 400 free relay (3:13.9) at states. At the CHSAA meet, Wagner won the 200 freestyle (1:39.17) and 100 butterfly (50.00), both times establishing state records.

EVERETT VASQUEZ
Patchogue-Medford

Junior
Placed second in the 100 butterfly (49.73) at the Federation meet. Won the 100 butterfly (51:01) and tied for first in the 100 backstroke (53.99) at the Suffolk County meet.

SAM MO
Great Neck South

Sophomore
Won in the 200 IM (1:55.87), 100 freestyle (48.08) and was part of the winning 400 freestyle relay (3:20.93) at the Nassau County meet. Mo, who had state qualifying times in six individual events and helped his team qualify two relays, helped lead South to its second straight undefeated season and Nassau title.

NICK SPINELLA
Sewanhaka

Senior
He placed third in the 100 backstroke (52.26) at the Federation meet. Won the 100 backstroke (53.96) and was second in the 200 freestyle (1:44.85) at the Nassau meet. Spinella had state qualifying times in seven events during the regular season.

MICHAEL FORGIONE
St. Anthony’s

Senior
He placed seventh in the 100 freestyle (47.37) and swam the lead legs on the fourth-place 400 free relay (3:12.07) and the fifth-place 200 freestyle relay (1:28.62) at the Federation meet. He won the 50 free (21.85) and 100 free (47.32) at the CHSAA meet, helping lead St. Anthony’s to its first title.

AUSTIN KOWALSKY
Bellmore-Merrick

Sophomore
Won the 50 free (21.57) and 100 butterfly (53.42) at the Nassau meet. Kowalsky also swam the anchor leg on the first-place 200 freestyle relay (1:29.77) and the lead leg on the second-place 200-medley relay (1:42.32) at counties.

MATT DeBLASIO
Half Hollow Hills

Junior
He placed second in the 200 IM (1:53.24) and seventh in the 100 backstroke (53.14) at the Federation meet, in addition to swimming the lead leg on the seventh-place 200 medley relay (1:38.40) and the anchor leg on the seventh place 400-free relay (3:14.87). Won two events — 200 IM (1:55.9) and 100 backstroke (53.99) — and was part of two winning relays — 200 medley (1:39.86) and 400 medley (3:16.3) — at the Suffolk meet.

CHRISTIAN CREMER
Sayville/Bayport-Blue Point

Senior
He finished second in the 500 freestyle (4:32.79) and fifth in the 200 freestyle (1:42.72) at the Federation meet. Won the 200 freestyle (1:43.1) and 500 freestyle (4:38.75) and swam the anchor legs of the winning 200 free relay (1:30.82) and second-place 400 free relay (3:17.73) at the Suffolk championships, where he was named outstanding swimmer.

DAN McBRIDE
Coach of the Year
St. Anthony's

McBride led the Friars to their first ever CHSAA swimming championship, outscoring rival Fordham Prep 747.5 to 698.5. They had an undefeated regular season and won sole possession of first place in the regular season for the first time.
