1. Stony Brook School (22-2): The Bears are a private school that plays a non-league schedule against some of the top competition in the tri-state area. They are led by pro prospect Aiden Ruiz and a couple of big home run hitters in Colin Raymond (8) and Josh Diaz (6).
2. Plainedge (18-0): The Red Devils have the deepest pitching staff on Long Island with Jaxson Torres, Taylor Nitsch (7 wins) and Bobby Wescott. These three have been dominant. Torres has six wins and two no-hitters.
3. St. Anthony’s (15-6): The Friars play in NSCHSAA, arguably the toughest league on LI. The rotation with Luke Coats and Jacob Vaccariello can beat anyone in a best of three series. And LI’s most dangerous hitter is C.J. Alfano, who has 11 home runs.
4. Massapequa (13-3-1): They are once again proving to be the class of AAA on LI. Timely hitting, solid pitching and strong defense are always the keys here.
5. Clarke (17-3): Matt Kurz gets it done on the bump and at the plate. He’s a leader that can get the Rams to a Class AA Nassau title. Kurz has five home runs and seven pitching wins.
6. St. John the Baptist (12-6): They swept St. Anthony’s, the league champ, in early April but stumbled at Kellenberg and Holy Trinity losing two of three to both teams. They are a serious contender for the NSCHSAA title.
7. Longwood (16-1): The Lions started the season with 14 straight wins before an 8-7 loss to Patchogue-Medford in Suffolk League I.
8. Connetquot (14-3): The T-Birds dropped two of three to second-place Commack this week but are still in good position to win the Suffolk League II crown. DJ Fillipone is the ace of another deep staff.
9. Eastport-South Manor (15-1): The Sharks have dominated Suffolk League V. Their only loss, a 1-0 decision to East Hampton, snapped a 28-game win streak.
10 tie. Garden City (16-3): All three losses have been by one run. But they also know how to win one-run games, with four wins in those situations. Joe Carey has been unhittable this season with four shutouts and a no-hitter.
10. Bellmore JFK (14-3): Another Class AA contender with the Yormack twins, who have slammed a combined 11 homers. Derek has six and Ryan five. The hard-throwing Derek Yormack has five wins.
On the cusp: Smithtown East (15-1), Farmingdale (12-4-1), West Islip (14-3), Kings Park (15-2), Wantagh (13-4-1).
