1. The Stony Brook School

The Bears return the majority of a 19-5 team that was ranked in the national Top 25 for most of last season. They are headlined by a highly-ranked draft prospect in shortstop Aiden Ruiz. They added a lefty bat in Vaughan Steinert, who is committed to Clemson.

2. St. Anthony’s

It will be hard to score on the Friars this year, as they return three Division I commits and a good lefty in Michael Clare to their pitching staff. Stopping them from scoring will be tough, too, given the return of sluggers CJ Alfano and Michael Carr.

3. Massapequa

The Class AAA state runner-up returns an elite rotation of Jack Corrigan, AJ Conza and Jack Mulligan, the latter of whom is already touching 91 miles per hour. The trio combined for a 1.88 ERA over 56 innings last year. Anthony DiNello, Mike Smar and Chris Sultana figure to be among Nassau AAA’s best bats.

4. Chaminade

The Flyers may boast the state’s best pitching staff, regardless of denomination or classification. A pair of Division I commits — Andrew Caramico, St. John’s; Christos Dimitrakakis, Villanova — are flanked by a pair of Division II commits (Jack Pfiefer, Molloy; Carlos Pereira, Queens). They also boast a big thumper in their order with Nolan Fernandez at first base.

5. Bellmore JFK

The Cougars will rely on the bats and arms of the Yormack twins, Ryan and Derek, who combined to hit .535 with 14 home runs and 63 RBIs. They are protected by Dylan Babek’s lefty bat, which delivered a ..410 average, four home runs and 25 RBIs.

6. Farmingdale

The Dalers return five players who hit over .300 last year, paced by the elite righty bat of first baseman Lorenzo Cimino (.526 with four home runs). Senior third baseman Ive Mills will help set the table after batting .370, and Le Moyne commit Mateo Morales, a senior outfielder, will play a bigger role after batting .325. Junior second baseman Justin Ortiz provides them with another tablesetter, having batted .334 and drew 13 walks as a sophomore. Jake Mora brings swing-and-miss stuff to the rotation, as he struck out 27 batters over 17 frames.

7. Garden City

Chris Desiderio is one of the best two-way players in the state. Joe Carey, the Trojans’ No. 2 starter, is a Division I commit to Holy Cross. Senior second baseman Skylar Lang, who batted .290 with four doubles and 15 RBIs, gives Desiderio and senior outfielders Kyle Walsh and Jack Murphy ample opportunities to drive runs in. Walsh slugged nine doubles and two homers. Murphy batted .279 with a home run and 16 RBIs.

8. Clarke

There is no easy out in the Rams’ lineup, paced by Matthew Kurz, who also pitched to a 1.64 ERA. Outfielder Michael Iadevaia (.322, one home run with 15 RBIs), shortstop James Beckworth (.343, one home run, 25 RBIs) and catcher Luke Walker (.389, 29 RBIs) lead the way.

9. East Islip

The Long Island Class AA runner-up returns two of the best two-way players on Long Island in Lucas Patton and Mike Tramaglini. Behind them on the staff is Tim Coakley and his 2.27 ERA. Chris Rizzo (.306, 12 RBIs), Matt Pasfield (.280) and Ryan Moore provide some length in the lineup.

10. Sayville

The Golden Flashes return a vast portion of a regional champion team with many different talents. Shane Meehan and Brody Tellier are forces in the middle of the order, while Aidan Devane, Patrick Coan and Jack Lankowicz can drive traffic on the basepaths.

3 teams on the cusp

Connetquot. The T-Birds return an elite shortstop in Jagger Adamo and a two-way superstar in DJ Filippone, complemented by righthanders Jack Doucet (1.02 ERA, 15 IP) and Michael Mallon (3.25 ERA, two wins).

St. Dominic. The Bayhawks bring back four .300 hitters — Ray Kim, Conner Ackerman, Dom Muccia and Mike Scarry — from an 18-7 team that won its second consecutive league championship.

Kings Park. The Kingsmen will open the first two games of each series with a Division I-committed junior in Everett Zarzicki and Dylan Frers. Senior righthander Connor DeKenipp (1.93 ERA, 0.90 WHIP) is the team's No. 3 starter.
