Bowles scores 31 to lift Kellenberg

Senior Kevin Bowles scored a career-high 31 points, shot 6-for-8 from three-point range and added eight rebounds to lead Kellenberg in a 63-54 win over Long Beach Monday in the Martin Luther King Invitational at Freeport.

Jeremy Arthur added 16 points and seven rebounds, and Rob Gomiela had 12 points and six assists for the Firebirds (11-2). Daryl Brown scored 27 points for Long Beach.

Amityville 44, East Hampton 43: Shawna Thorton (eight points) hit a three-pointer with two seconds left for Amityville (3-2) in League VI on Friday. Kaelyn Ward's free throws had given East Hampton a 43-41 lead with 11 seconds remaining. Janiece Jenkins had 14 points and five steals, and Raven Price added 11 points and 17 rebounds for the Warriors.

boys trackUniondale's Christopher Armour won the 55-meter high hurdles (7.7) and teammate Nyder Chardonette (7.8) took second in the Friendship Games at Nassau CC. Derrick Ingram won the 55-meter dash (6.4) and Tresean Goodwin won the 300 (37.9).
