Senior Gregg Reed bowled his third 300 game of the season as Smithtown completed an undefeated season with a three-game win over Northport in League II boys bowling. Smithtown (12-0) won, 1,101-997, 1,118-1,025, and 1,008-991, yesterday at East Northport's Larkfield Lanes.

Reed also bowled a 298 in Game 2 and, with his 853 series, finished the season with a Suffolk-record 233.89 average. He surpassed the mark of 232.7 set last year by Middle Country's Matt Skalacki.

"I've been feeling it lately," said Reed, who has bowled six 300 games in his career. "All season I've felt really good about my game and it's just happened. I really don't start thinking about it or getting nervous until my 12th shot. I'm just focused on throwing a good shot."

Reed's first perfect game this season came on Dec. 27 against Northport, and the other was in the Suffolk Singles and Doubles Tournament earlier this month.

"Having the responsibility of being the anchor on the best team in the county motivates me to do well," he said.

Smithtown, which led Suffolk in team average, will compete in the county championship tournament on Feb. 4 at Sayville Lanes.
