The Suffolk Class A boys lacrosse championship game was suspended Wednesday evening because of lightning.

The top-seeded Northport Tigers were leading No. 3 Smithtown East, 13-8, with 7:28 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Play will resume at 3 p.m. Thursday at East Islip High School.

The game was tight throughout most of the first three quarters.

Freshman Jack Deliberti, faceoff specialist Tyler Kuprianchik and long stick middie Andrew Miller all scored in a 19 second span late in the third quarter to take the top-seeded Tigers from down a goal to up 9-7 with 3:51 remaining in the quarter.

Northport opened the fourth quarter with four straight goals to extend the lead to 13-7 before Smithtown East’s Marcus Wertheim scored to cut it to 13-8.

Delberti and Jacob Starcke each had three goals for Northport. Brendon Marz had three goals for Smithtown East.
