Newsday's top 100 boys lacrosse players on Long Island for 2026

Newsday's annual look at the top Long Island high school boys lacrosse players as the 2026 season gets underway, listed in alphabetical order. All stats listed are from last season unless otherwise noted.
Grayden Aebisher, Glenn, M, Jr.
Aebisher had 44 assists and scored 24 times. Coach Jaron Batts lauded the Fairfield commit’s vision and called him a “big, strong lefty who can get to the cage.”
Angelo Anobile, North Shore, A, Sr.
Anobile came through with 41 goals and assisted on 15 others. Coach John Savage noted that the Salisbury commit has great hands and shot velocity.
Anthony Asaro, Garden City, M, Jr.
Asaro made first-team All-Long Island, delivering 37 goals and 21 assists. The North Carolina commit, who’s ranked sixth nationally in the Class of 2027 by Inside Lacrosse, excels at one-on-one dodging, shooting and passing.
John Balsamo, Chaminade, A, Sr.
The Virginia commit, ranked as the nation’s 20th-best recruit in Inside Lacrosse’s Class of 2026, dominated with 38 goals and 37 assists. Coach Greg Kay described the 2025 second-team All-Long Island pick as the type of player who “makes everyone around him better.”
Josh Berger, Roslyn, A, Sr.
Berger, a second-team All-Long Island selection, delivered 49 goals and 14 assists. Coach Jesse Sorensen called the Yale commit “an elite lacrosse player. … Teams tried every tactic possible to stop him last year with little success.”
Ethan Bramoff, St. Anthony’s, LSM/D, Sr.
Bramoff was a first-team All-Long Island selection. The five-star recruit is ranked eighth nationally in the Class of 2026 by Inside Lacrosse and has committed to Maryland.
Luke Brown, Smithtown West, D, Jr.
The Navy commit was voted Suffolk’s Defenseman of the Year by the county’s coaches and for good reason. Brown helped Smithtown West turn a 0-6 start into a playoff berth, winning seven of its final 11 games.
Chase Busking, West Islip, A, Sr.
The Siena commit scored a team-leading 54 goals and assisted on 24 more. Coach Sean McAleavey noted that he reads the field and uses deception effectively on offense.

Tyler Byrnes, Massapequa, A, Sr.
Few players received more praise from other coaches than Byrnes, who had 31 goals and 25 assists. The UMass commit helped lead Massapequa to its first county title since 2019.
Greyson Cabrera, Northport, M, Sr.
Cabrera, a Richmond commit, totaled 47 goals and 63 points for a Tigers team that went to a fifth straight Suffolk final. Coach Billy Cordts calls the 6-3 third-year starter a two-way player who’s “strong as an ox and fast as a cheetah.”
Charles Cacciabaudo, St. Anthony’s, A, Sr.
Cacciabaudo, a North Carolina commit, brings scoring skills to the Friars.
Salvatore Caiazzo, Half Hollow Hills, D, Sr.
Caiazzo has the athleticism to launch transition play and the on-ball ability to lock down an attackman. The Vermont commit made an impact consistently in Hills’ run to a 23-0 season and a state title, collecting 51 ground balls and causing 36 turnovers.
John Calabria, Sachem North, A, Jr.
Calabria burst onto the scene as a sophomore. The Bryant commit scored 35 goals, assisted on a team-leading 54 more and tied for the team lead with 89 points.
Jake Calloway, Westhampton, LSM, Jr.
Calloway missed the second half of last season with an injury, but the athletic Penn State commit had already established himself as having top-flight cover talent and having the ability to boost the transition game.
Jake Casamento, Half Hollow Hills, D, Sr.
The Penn-bound Casamento brings the size and speed to guard any attackman.
Stephen Castellano, Sachem North, A, Sr.
Castellano provided 61 goals and 28 assists for a 13-win Sachem North team. He’s also just as tenacious defensively.

Andrew Cimino, Shoreham-Wading River, A, Sr.
Cimino, a Richmond commit, dominated with 50 goals and 30 assists. The lefty shooter brings size, explosiveness and relentless hustle .
Aidan Cleary, Syosset, FO, Sr.
Cleary, who won 62% of his faceoffs and had three goals and 10 assists, has devoted a lot of time to excel at the X. The third-year starter has committed to LIU.
Campbell Cracchiola, Smithtown East, M, Sr.
Cracchiola is an athletic fourth-year starter who contributed 33 goals. Coach Kevin Huff called the Sacred Heart commit “the prototypical two-way middie of years ago.”
Aiden Cromwell, St. Dominic, A/M, Sr.
Cromwell posted 54 goals and 32 assists for the NSCHSAA Class A champions. The Iona commit is a catalyst and leader with a high motor.
JJ Damo, Farmingdale, FO, Sr.
A starter since his sophomore season, the LIU commit won 65.8% of his faceoffs and will set the tempo.
Jake DeGennaro, Islip, M, Sr.
DeGennaro, an LIU commit with 90 career points, had 31 goals and 20 assists. Coach Keith Scheidel said he’s “one of the best two-way midfielders” in Suffolk.
Andrew Dengler, Garden City, D, Jr.
Dengler collected 32 ground balls. The Cornell commit is a steady defender who takes on the opposition’s top attackman.
Michael DePietro, Manhasset, D, Jr.
A standout among the 2027 defenseman class, the UMass commit had more than 50 ground balls and guarded the opponent’s top attackman.

Aiden DeRupo, Long Beach, G, Sr.
DeRupo saved 215 shots. The Adelphi commit enters his fourth year as a starter.
Lucas Diamond, Shoreham-Wading River, M, Jr.
Diamond fits the traditional two-way midfielder mold, impacting the game offensively and defensively. The High Point commit’s strength and instinct resulted in 27 goals and 16 assists.
Cian Donaghy, Long Beach, A, Jr.
The Sacred Heart commit showed his ability with 30 goals and 21 assists.
Harry Eynon, Port Washington, A, Jr.
Eynon contributed 43 goals, 15 assists and 22 ground balls. The second-year starter has superior vision to go with his scoring ability.
Max Eynon, Port Washington, G, Jr.
Eynon made 188 saves, posted a 4.2 goals-against average and a 70.1 save percentage to earn second-team All-Long Island honors. A starter since eighth grade, the Ohio State commit is an “absolute game changer between the pipes,” according to coach Dan Gill.
Brian Falk, Seaford, M, Sr.
Falk had 25 goals, 18 assists and 64 ground balls. The Army commit creates scoring chances and creates chances for transition through his physical play.
Justin Farrell, Massapequa, D, Jr.
Farrell followed up an impressive freshman season with an even stronger sophomore year, with the Michigan commit guarding some of the best attackmen in Nassau’s power league.
Michael Galgano, Farmingdale, D/LSM, Sr.
One of the best defenders in the state, Galgano possesses an elite lacrosse IQ and a tenacity for forcing turnovers. The UMass commit caused 75 turnovers and had 113 ground balls.

PJ Gilhauley, Floyd, M, Sr.
Gilhauley had 34 goals and 14 assists. The SUNY Cortland commit is a “physical dodger,” according to coach Dez Megna.
James Gillis, Chaminade, A, Sr.
Gillis is the top-ranked Class of 2026 recruit in the country, according to Inside Lacrosse. The Duke commit had 42 goals and 19 assists and made first-team All-Long Island.
Ethan Goldberg, Roslyn, FO/M, Sr.
Goldberg won 78% of the time at the faceoff X. He is a Richmond commit and third-year starter.
George Greene, Shoreham-Wading River, LSM, Sr.
The Siena commit caused 33 turnovers and scooped 51 ground balls in addition to his 11 points.
Noah Gregorek, Shoreham-Wading River, A, So.
A three-level scorer who’s already entering his third year as a starter, the young star posted 43 goals and 42 assists.
Brayden Haase, Herricks, M, Sr.
Haase finished second in Nassau in goals with 70 and points with 93. The NJIT commit is a “talented shooter” who has the “mental strength to will himself to make plays in [the] unlikeliest of situations,” according to coach Mike Chin.
Sean Hannigan, East Islip, A, Jr.
Hannigan, a Boston University commit, had 24 goals and 48 assists. Coach Tom Zummo called the fourth-year starter “the cream of the crop when it comes to attackmen on Long Island.”
Dylan Harrigan, St. Anthony’s, M/A, Sr.
Harrigan had four goals and four assists in the Friars’ win over Chaminade in the NSCHSAA/state CHSAA Class AAA title game and finished with 28 goals and 20 assists. The second-team All-Long Island honoree has committed to Maryland.
John Hawthorne, South Side, M, Jr.
The Bryant commit tallied 26 goals and 16 assists. He brings size and length, pairing well with his strong shooting ability.

Cameron James, Smithtown East, A, Sr.
James had 44 goals and 36 assists. Coach Kevin Huff feels the Johns Hopkins commit’s best attributes are his shooting accuracy, passing and work ethic.
Gavin Javetski, Center Moriches, M, Jr.
The Navy commit posted 24 goals and 38 assists.
Robert Johnson, St. Anthony’s, FO, Sr.
Johnson was out for most of last season before taking some faceoffs in the NSCHSAA/state CHSAA Class AAA title game. But this athletic and quick player is a four-star recruit and a North Carolina commit.
Jacob Johnston, St. Anthony’s, M, Sr.
Johnston had 31 goals and 10 assists for his NSCHSAA and state CHSAA Class AAA championship team, earning first-team All-Long Island honors. The Johns Hopkins commit is a five-star recruit who is the 13th ranked player in the country in the Class of 2026 by Inside Lacrosse.
Jack Kamenstein, Huntington, A/M, Sr.
The SUNY Geneseo commit had 34 goals and 21 assists in his first season as a starter. A terrific athlete, Kamenstein figures to be Huntington’s focal point on the attack.
Matty Kammer, Cold Spring Harbor, G, Jr.
Kammer starred as a sophomore, saving 60% of the shots he saw. The Villanova commit had 16 saves in the Class D Southeast Regional final against Bronxville and conceded just five goals in the state semifinal loss to Chenango Forks.

Alex Kantrowitz, Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK, M, Sr.
The Wesleyan commit will be a captain for the Hawks after posting 54 goals and 29 assists. The fourth-year starter has a high lacrosse IQ and a relentless work ethic.
Zane Karoussos, South Fork, LSM/M, Jr.
Karoussos had 31 goals, 41 assists, 110 ground balls and 30 caused turnovers. Coach Matt Babb cited the Cornell commit's superb vision, anticipation and ability to push the transition game, calling him “a one-man clear when needed.”
Braeden Kehoe, Mepham, FO, Sr.
Kehoe is among the top faceoff specialists in Nassau, winning 72.6% of his attempts. The Iona commit also totaled 153 ground balls, seven goals and two assists.
Charlie Koester, Garden City, A/M, Sr.
The first-team All-Long Island pick finished one point shy of 100, delivering 66 goals and 33 assists for his state Class B championship team. The Lehigh commit is a leader who quarterbacks the offense.
Luke LaRocca, Sachem North, D, Jr.
Sachem North returns all of its starters on defense, headlined by this Syracuse commit. The standout led the team in caused turnovers with 29. He’s also terrific in transition.
Luca Lattanzio, Comsewogue, A, Sr.
Lattanzio, who has 100 career goals, needs 32 points to reach 200 after a 26-goal, 35-assist season. Coach Pete Mitchell called the Queens commit “a prolific offensive threat.”
Andrew Laviano, Kings Park, FO/A, Sr.
Coach Tom Nally labeled him as “the top faceoff guy in the county” for good reason. The UMass Lowell commit set program records by winning 71% of his faceoffs along with collecting 237 ground balls.
Dominic Laviano, Sachem East, M, Sr.
Laviano scored 38 goals despite battling an injury early in the season. Coach Michael Sofia noted his athleticism, ability to dodge and strength to shoot more than 90 miles per hour. The LIU commit, who added 10 assists, is a standout defender who also takes faceoffs.
Tommy Leder, Manhasset, M, Sr.
The Middlebury commit impressed in his first season as a starter with 26 goals and 16 assists.

Carter Loughman, Wantagh, M, Sr.
Loughman had four goals and an assist in his MVP effort in the Long Island Class C championship game and finished with 20 goals and 13 assists. The Albany commit is a two-way middie who works hard, plays physically and owns a power-packed shot.
Luke Martini, Wantagh, A/M, So.
Martini had 62 goals and 21 assists. Coach James Polo praised the third-year starter’s “compete level” and described him as “a tough, physical, explosive player with great skills and a high lacrosse IQ.”
Zach Mashaal, Roslyn, G, Sr.
Mashaal had 211 saves. The third-year starter is being recruited by high-level Division I schools.
Tommy Massaro, Mount Sinai, FO/A, Jr.
Massaro won 77.4% of his face off attempts to go with his 45 goals and 11 assists. Coach Harold Drumm called the Rutgers commit “an excellent crease attackman who can dodge also” and added that Massaro “has great hands, righty and lefty.”
George Mavlios, Chaminade, FO, Sr.
The Rutgers commit is quick on the draw but is also a strong attacker and defender. Mavlios enters his first year as a starter.
Logan McCaffrey, Comsewogue, D/LSM, Jr.
McCaffrey had 65 ground balls and 41 caused turnovers. The third-year starter and Marist commit “is a dynamic defenseman that wreaks havoc all over the field," coach Pete Mitchell said.
Joe Nicholson, Wantagh, M, Sr.
Nicholson delivered 49 goals and 22 assists for Wantagh’s Long Island Class C championship team and was a second-team All-Long Island choice. The Villanova-bound fourth-year starter is “a classic two-way midfielder” who combines “strength, skill and grit,” according to coach James Polo.

The standout faceoff specialist is among the best in Nassau, winning nearly 61% of his 391 attempts. Notaro, a Marquette commit, also won 88% of his attempts in the county final against Wantagh.
Gavin O’Brien, Northport, A, Jr.
O’Brien rang up 41 goals and had 35 assists in his first season as a starter, “cementing himself as Northport’s next great attackman,” according to coach Billy Cordts. The 6-5 Rutgers commit, in Cordts’ view, “sees the field at an elite level.”
Dominic Otis, Middle Country, A, Sr.
Otis had 50 goals, 40 ground balls and 30 caused turnovers. The Misericordia commit, who’s a third-year starter, is skilled, quick and heady on the field.
Devin Paccione, Wantagh, A/M, Sr.
Paccione, a Villanova commit, had 43 goals and 45 assists to help Wantagh win its first Long Island title in 24 years. The second-team All-Long Island pick brings smarts, drive, speed, agility and superior vision.

Marco Petruccelli, Manhasset, A, Jr.
Petruccelli, an Inside Lacrosse four-star recruit, was off to a terrific start in 2025 before an injury sidelined him for six games. The Harvard commit still finished with 21 goals and 15 assists.
Marc Pluchino, Floyd, M, Sr.
Pluchino excelled with 46 goals and 15 assists. Coach Dez Megna feels he’s “one of the best pure shooters in Suffolk,” a player with the ability to “shoot with both hands on the run.”
Eoin Power, Kellenberg, M, Sr.
The NJIT commit isn’t afraid to utilize his 6-4 frame, boasting a powerful left-handed shot. He’ll be a bigger part of the Firebirds’ offense after posting 23 goals and 13 assists.
Chris Prainito, Harborfields, A, Sr.
Prainito posted 26 goals and 28 assists. Coach Glenn Lavey described him as a “slick attackman with great hands who can do everything.”
JJ Ramsay, The Stony Brook School, M, Sr.
Ramsay transferred to The Stony Brook School after helping St. Dominic reach the state CHSAA Class A intersectional final. The LIU commit, who led the NSCHSAA with 59 goals and 83 points, has good size at 6-4, paired with elite footwork.
Jack Rao, Islip, M/A, Sr.
Rao had 36 goals and 24 assists. Coach Keith Scheidel praised the Hofstra commit’s work ethic and called him the “point guard of the offense.”
Brody Richert, St. Anthony’s, M, Sr.
The Towson commit, who’s one of the captains, stands out as a short stick defensive middie.
Brayden Robertiello, Garden City, FO, Jr.
Robertiello takes over for Luke Cascadden with primary faceoff duty. The Penn State commit is also an offensive threat, having contributed eight goals and 19 assists despite missing some time due to injury.
Connor Rocchio, Comsewogue, D, Sr.
Rocchio had 48 ground balls and caused 22 turnovers. Coach Pete Mitchell described the Marist commit as “a standout defender” and cited his “leadership, skill and toughness.”
Daniel Rooney, St. Anthony’s, A, Sr.
The Maryland commit had 22 goals and 26 assists in yet another championship season for the Friars.
Joe Scavone IV, Lindenhurst, A, Sr.
Scavone, who’s a Molloy commit, had 59 goals and 36 assists. “His motor never stops,” coach Tommy McCandless said.

Sean Schumeyer, Farmingdale, A/M, Sr.
The left-handed Mercy commit had 33 goals, 14 assists, 20 ground balls and 14 caused turnovers. He’s a terrific dodger who’s versatile enough to thrive as an attackman or traditional midfielder.
Will Schwarz, West Islip, A, Jr.
Schwarz delivered 42 goals and 24 assists. Coach Sean McAleavey called the Maryland commit “dynamic” and cited his “strong dodging and shooting ability.”
Brady Shaw, Babylon, FO, Sr.
The four-year varsity starter won 70% of his faceoffs. He has committed to Franklin & Marshall.
Conor Sheerin, Manhasset, A, Sr.
Sheerin had 42 goals and 13 assists, helping his team reach the Nassau Class B final. He has committed to Hamilton.
CJ Siegler, Bellmore JFK, FO, Jr.
Siegler, an LIU commit, dominated at the faceoff X with a remarkable 85.7% win rate across 230 attempts.
Ben Smith, Garden City, A, So.
Smith showed his great hands and high lacrosse IQ, scoring 45 goals and assisting on 25.
Dontae Spadaro, Mount Sinai, A, Sr.
The Marist commit is strong and athletic. Spadaro had 30 goals and 25 assists.
Rocco Spallina, Massapequa, A, Jr.
Spallina led Massapequa with 52 goals and added 13 assists. The Penn commit is an elite finisher.
Javen Taff, Sayville, A, Jr.
Taff, an Army commit, had 43 goals and 21 assists. The lefty attackman is a terrific dodger who enters his fourth season as a starter.

Roy Testa, Cold Spring Harbor, A, Jr.
The Johns Hopkins commit, now in his fourth year as a starter, had 25 goals and 13 assists to help Cold Spring Harbor win a fourth consecutive Long Island Class D title.
Daniel Toepfer, Commack, D, Sr.
Toepfer has the speed and strength to handle a team’s top attackman. He’s an LIU commit.
Alex Vitale, Cold Spring Harbor, FO, Jr.
Vitale was a difference maker, winning 68.5% of his faceoffs — 235 out of 343. He has great size at the X and isn’t afraid to utilize it.
Tristan Vitale, Sayville, M, Sr.
Vitale, a Salisbury commit, is among the top midfielders in Suffolk after recording 41 goals and 10 assists.
Nick Voll, Calhoun, M, Sr.
Coach Dan Catapano described Voll as “gritty,” a classic description of the two-way talent the third-year starter possesses. The Maritime commit had 23 goals and 19 assists.

Kieran Walsh, Chaminade, G, Sr.
Walsh made saves on 61% of the shots he faced. The Notre Dame commit’s outlet passing is exceptional.
Mason Walsh, Center Moriches, LSM, Jr.
Walsh, who was the Suffolk Class D title game MVP, led the team in takeaways and won 51% of his faceoffs as a long pole. He has committed to Binghamton.
Brody Waxer, Syosset, A/M, Sr.
Waxer had 39 goals and 34 assists. The Michigan commit, now a fifth-year member of the varsity, will be the focus of attention from the opposition’s top defender.

Luke Waxer, Bethpage, LSM, Sr.
Waxer is one of the area’s best long-stick midfielders, having earned second-team All-Long Island recognition. The athletic Bryant commit posted 10 goals and eight assists and ranked among Nassau’s leaders in caused turnovers (78) and ground balls (125).
Jack Weber, Mepham, D, Sr.
Weber, a Penn State commit, is a terrific on-ball defender who overcame injury to help Mepham finish with 10 wins.
Josh Weisenfeld, Syosset, G, Sr.
Weisenfeld faced some of Long Island’s best shooters in his second season starting. The LIU commit totaled 183 saves and made stops 57% of the time.

Wieczorek brings size and skill. The Richmond commit’s dynamic play style showed with 35 goals and 41 assists.
Kip Zacharia, Manhasset, D, Sr.
The only freshman starter on Manhasset’s 2023 state championship team, the Lehigh commit had outstanding underclassmen seasons before missing his junior year with an injury.
