Bychro's first goal gives West Babylon soccer win
Junior Joe Bychro scored his first varsity goal with 4:34 left in the second overtime on an assist from Gaetano Innamorato to give host West Babylon a 2-1 win over Longwood Tuesday in non-league boys soccer. Andrew Katz tied the score at 1 in the second half for Longwood. Justin Fitzpatrick assisted Justin Drago for West Babylon's first goal.Deer Park 1, Riverhead 1: Sophomore Daniel Friend scored his first varsity goal on an assist from Keith Marro in the 26th minute to give Deer Park a 1-0 lead. Diego Guazhambo scored in 44th minute for Riverhead.Half Hollow Hills East 1, Miller Place 0: Robert Reiser scored 10 minutes into the second half on an assist from Kevin Ruiz for Hills East. Jake Freeman hit the post three times, and the crossbar once, but couldn't add to Hills' lead. Jordan Gross made four saves for Hills East.Newfield 4, Comsewogue 0: Steven Lopes completed a hat trick when he scored on a penalty shot with 20 minutes left in the second half for Newfield. Brandon Hiltz made six saves in the shutout.Mount Sinai 2, Rocky Point 1: Senior Jake Hine made seven saves in his first varsity start for Mt. Sinai. He allowed a goal with eight seconds left in the game. Ian Goldwasser and Bryan Morin scored for the Mustangs.North Shore 3, Glen Cove 2: Paul Gabriel scored the eventual winner on a penalty kick in the 34th minute of the first half for North Shore. Gabriel finished with two goals and an assist.
Hewlett 1, Long Beach 0: Max Mena scored on a throw-in by Harry Brenner 25 minutes into the first half for Hewlett. Ronie Morales (six saves) and Trevor Ellman (four) combined for the shutout.
Roslyn 2, Wheatley 1: Matthew Sherr scored the winner 18 minutes into the second half for Roslyn. Michael Lefcourt scored a first-half goal, and Evan Schneider made five saves.
St. Anthony's 1, St. John the Baptist 0: Anthony Bilello scored the winner on a direct kick at 14:19 in the first half for St. Anthony's in CHSAA.
