Donovan Fraser scored in the opening two minutes Tuesday and it appeared that might be a recurring theme. The Half Hollow Hills West junior, along with his teammates, had a plethora of scoring opportunities.

Fraser sent some shots over the net, others wide and hit a post. Those on net were stopped by goalkeeper Chris Friedl. The explosive Colts were held to two goals, but it was enough in a 2-1 home win over Comsewogue in Suffolk League IV boys soccer.

"We had so many chances in the first half," Fraser said. "We controlled the first half and we were flat in the second half. Two goals isn't a disappointment, but we know we could have scored more."

Hills West (10-0, 6-0) scored 39 goals in its first nine games. The Colts could have added greatly to that total, but Friedl made 15 saves to keep the Warriors in the game.

"He's amazing," Comsewogue coach Dan Costello said. "When he's on his game, it's tough to beat him."

Added Hills West coach Doug Gannon: "He was phenomenal. It was one of the best performances I've seen by a goalkeeper in a while."

Fraser set up the second goal by Justin Connor with 6:56 left in the first half. The Warriors (4-3, 4-1), whose 32-game league win streak was snapped, scored 12 minutes into the second half as Alex Healion headed in a pass from Jesse Inkles. Comsewogue, last year's Class A state champion, now plays in Class AA.

Hills West keeper Michael Primiano came out about 30 yards to challenge a Comsewogue attacker with 6:45 left in the game and headed the ball away, but Comsewogue got a shot on the open goal before Andrew McAlpine headed the ball away. It was one of the few times Primiano got in the action as the Colts applied pressure all game.

"It's like that every game," he said. "In the beginning of the season, I could have read a Harry Potter book back there. I have to get used to it, but when the playoffs come it's going to be different."

It was the first pressure situation of the season for the Colts, who have dominated league play.

"The defense hasn't really been tested and they're very strong," Gannon said. "We have experience back there and it helped in the last 15 minutes. It was a gritty win. We have to pass these tests. It could have been 5-0. I'm teaching my guys to put teams away. We saw a Comsewogue team that came to play."
