Freeman's penalty kick in OT gives Hills East win
Jake Freeman scored his third goal of the game on a penalty kick three minutes into overtime to lead Half Hollow Hills East past Central Islip, 3-2, Wednesday in Suffolk League II boys soccer. Jordan Gross made one of his 10 saves on a penalty kick with three minutes left in the second half to preserve a 2-1 lead for Hills East (6-2-1). Central Islip (1-8) tied the score at 2 after Carlos Escobar's corner kick deflected off a Hills East player with two minutes left.
Brentwood 2, Ward Melville 2: Carlos Alvarenga scored the go-ahead goal for Brentwood (6-1-2) seven minutes into the second half, but Richie Pisacone scored with 20 minutes remaining to tie the score at 2 for Ward Melville (6-2-1) in League I.
Massapequa 3, Uniondale 2: Connor Nealis scored the winner on a cross off a free kick from Dakota Barnathan with 6:43 left in the game for Massapequa (7-0-1) as the Chiefs overcame a 2-0 halftime deficit in Nassau Conference I. Nyder Chardonette scored both goals for Uniondale. Nick Fetzer tied the score at 2 for Massapequa with 13:44 left on a header off Nealis' throw-in.Roslyn 3, Garden City 3: Matthew Sherr scored with 6:45 left to tie the score at 3 for Roslyn (3-1-3), which trailed 3-1 in Conference IV. Ethan Back scored with 9:25 left to make it 3-2. Vincent Tavernese and John Chtchekine each had a goal and an assist for Garden City (4-1-3).Bethpage 1, Valley Stream South 1: Flynn Shanahan scored off an assist from Stanley Egbuchulum with seven minutes remaining for South (2-3-3) to tie the score at 1 in Conference VI. Joey Walsh scored 14 minutes into the second half to give Bethpage (4-1-2) a 1-0 lead.
