Mark Jensen had 40 kills and Brian Weissert racked up 74 assists as third-seeded Bay Shore rallied for a 25-15, 25-27, 23-25, 25-22, 25-22 win against No. 2 Sachem East in a Suffolk Class A boys volleyball semifinal Monday.
Bay Shore (15-2) will face No. 1 Sachem North at 4 p.m. Thursday at Suffolk Community College in Brentwood in the final. It is Bay Shore's first appearance in a boys volleyball final in school history, coach Andres Borromeo said.
Sachem North 3, Ward Melville 0: Dylan Missry had 21 kills, three blocks, and seven digs to lead Sachem North to a 25-15, 25-14, 25-15 win over No. 4 Ward Melville. Rob Steinberg had 42 assists and seven digs.
Eastport-South Manor 3, Hauppauge 0: Kyle Allen-Morabito had 15 kills and Tyler Brandow had 10 kills and seven digs to lead No. 2 Eastport-South Manor (9-6) to a 25-14, 25-12, 25-19 win over No. 3 Hauppauge in a Class B semifinal. Josh Undari had 17 assists and Parker Bachisin had 14 assists for ESM, which plays the No. 1 East Hampton/No. 4 Sayville winner.
GIRLS VOLLEYBALLWantagh 3, Bellmore JFK 1: Michele Steinberg had 10 kills, seven blocks and three digs, and Megan Pennino had three aces, 11 digs and seven kills to lead No. 1 Wantagh to a 24-26, 25-9, 25-21, 27-25 win over No. 4 Bellmore JFK in a Class A semifinal. Wantagh (16-1) will play the winner of No. 2 South Side and No. 3 Long Beach.
Kings Park 3, Bellport 0: Amanda Gannon had 24 digs and nine kills, and Kat Benson added 12 kills and three blocks to lead No. 1 Kings Park to a 25-21, 26-24, 25-14 win over No. 4 Bellport in a Class A semifinal. Kings Park (19-0) will face No. 2 Westhampton in the final at 7 p.m. tomorrow at Suffolk Community College.
Westhampton 3, Sayville 2: Sarah Culver had 25 kills and 30 digs in No. 2 Westhampton's win over No. 3 Sayville. Sarena Choi had 17 kills and 24 digs in the 23-25 25-18 25-20 23-25 25-14 win.
BOYS SOCCERComsewogue 3, Glenn 1: James Thristino scored three goals to lead No. 2 Comsewogue over No. 3 Glenn in a Class A semifinal. The Warriors (15-1-2) will face top-seeded East Hampton in the final at 4 p.m. Thursday at Dowling Sports Complex in Shirley. Thristino has 78 career goals, coach Dan Costello said, third in Suffolk boys soccer history.
