Stark's three goals lead St. Mary's soccer win

Freshman Fred Stark had three goals and Karl Cesar added a goal and an assist for St. Mary's in a 5-1 non-league win over Long Island Lutheran in boys soccer Friday.

Chris Fras got St. Mary's (1-2) on the board seven minutes into the match off a through ball from Alex Papadopoulus. Stark scored his first goal 22 minutes in off a throw-in from Alex Olivieri. Stark's second score came in the 34th minute on a cross from Cesar.

Cesar added an unassisted goal from 35 yards 12 minutes into the second half to give the Gaels a 4-0 lead. Quelsy Medina had seven saves for St. Mary's. Keanu Bellamy scored with 1:15 left in the game to avoid the shutout for Long Island Lutheran. GIRLS SOCCER

Long Island Lutheran 3, Bamford Nightingdale 0: Meghan Pinezich, Caroline Dottino and freshman Nicole Sinacori each had goals to lead Long Island Lutheran (2-0) in non-league. Goalkeeper Paige Johnson had two saves in the shutout for Lutheran.
