Waggoner's free kick in 2OT wins for Mattituck
Matt Waggoner headed in a 40-yard free kick in the final minute of the second overtime to lead Mattituck (1-0) to a 1-0 win over Center Moriches in League VIII boys soccer Monday.
Cody Huntley made two of his seven saves at the end of regulation for Mattituck.
E. Hampton 2, Westhampton 0:J.C. Barrientos scored off a through ball from Milton Farez 13 minutes into the game to lead East Hampton (1-0) in League VI. Jonathan Pineda tacked on an insurance goal two minutes later.
Southold 5, Ross 0: Senior Jacob Elis had a career-high four goals for Southold (1-0) in League VIII. Preston Jolliver had four saves. Baldwin 3, Port Washington 0: Stephan Tang scored on a free kick 20 minutes into the first half to give Baldwin (1-0) a 1-0 lead in Conference AA-II. Chris Walsh and Peter Rafferty also scored. Vincent Pellegrino (six saves) and Dan Capone (two saves) combined for the shutout.East Meadow 2, Plainview JFK 1:Anthony Posillico scored twice, including the go-ahead goal with 25 minutes left, for East Meadow (2-1) in Conference AA-II.
Calhoun 1, Mepham 0: Brian Grambo scored off an assist from Andrew Lief with eight minutes left to win it for Calhoun (1-0) in Conference AA-III. Andrew LaClaustra made seven saves in the shutout.
Oyster Bay 1, Roosevelt 0: Jon Ramirez scored the go-ahead goal off a pass from Alex Carchietta in the 52nd minute for Oyster Bay (1-0) in Conference ABC-VIII. Lucas Santoro made five saves for the shutout.
