Roundup: Chris Catuosco leads Commack boys lacrosse
Chris Catuosco won 21 of 25 faceoffs, had 17 ground balls and scored a goal as Commack defeated Sachem North, 13-9, in its boys lacrosse Suffolk Division I opener. Jay LaMay scored four goals with four assists and Christian Baldi scored five goals for Commack.
Oceanside 9, Carey 6: Vincent McCabe had three goals and an assist and Ronnie Kraemer scored three goals to lead Oceanside (2-1) in non-league.
GIRLS LACROSSE
Bayport-Blue Point 4, Rocky Point 3: Natalee Frabizio scored the winning goal with 14 minutes remaining in the second half to lead Bayport-Blue Point in its Suffolk II opener. Bayport-Blue Point’s defense held Rocky Point to six shots in the win.
Mount Sinai 10, East Islip 4: Lea Flobeck and Kylie Budke each scored three goals to lead Mount Sinai (2-0) in Suffolk II. Jessica Peluso scored all four of East Islip’s goals.
BASEBALL
Wheatley 8, Friends Academy 0: Kyle Rosenberg pitched five no-hit innings with eight strikeouts to lead Wheatley in its Nassau Conference B/C opener. Will Karikas had an RBI double and Brian McCleary had an RBI single in the win.
