Gregg Sarra ranks the top athletic programs competing in the fall season, regardless of sport.

1. ST. ANTHONY’S GIRLS SOCCER

The Friars improved to 14-0 with a strong non-league 2-1 victory over Albertus Magnus from Rockland County, which suffered its first loss of the season on Oct. 8. St. Anthony’s defeated St. John the Baptist, 2-1, Wednesday with goals from Ashley Kozlowski and Olivia Perez.

2. NORTHPORT FIELD HOCKEY

The defending Long Island Class A champions have outscored their opponents 74-3 and are 14-0. Reigning Suffolk Player of the Year Sophia Bica is tied for second on Long Island with 30 points and had 15 goals and 15 assists. Olivia McKenna has 29 points and ranks first on Long Island with 19 assists. Her twin sister Natalie has recorded shutouts in 12 of 14 games.

3. GARDEN CITY FOOTBALL

They’ve captured five Nassau Conference II titles in a row, including three consecutive Long Island Class II crowns. They’re 5-0 led and have led by three scores at the half of every game.

4. EASTPORT-SOUTH MANOR BOYS VOLLEYBALL

The Sharks are 10-0 after a 3-0 victory over Whitman on Oct. 12. Outside hitter Jake DesLauriers sparked Eastport with 12 kills and six digs. Mark Porcelli, an outside hitter, added 11 kills and 10 digs for the defending Suffolk Division II champions.

5. MASSAPEQUA GIRLS SOCCER

Massapequa improved to 13-0-1 after Jessica Lynskey and Lia Howard each had a goal and an assist in a 2-0 win over Syosset, the second win over them this season. Massapequa has outscored opponents, 61-12.

6. SACRED HEART GIRLS SWIMMING

Cavan Gormsen and Tess Howley won gold medals at the 2021 FINA Swimming World Cup in Berlin and returned to school and the team last week. Sacred Heart won all 11 events at the CHSAA championships last season, led by Gormsen, Howley and Makayla Pearce.

7. GARDEN CITY FIELD HOCKEY

The defending Nassau Class A champions have outscored their opponents 31-3. The Trojans handed Manhasset its second loss of the season on Wednesday in a 2-1 victory to remain undefeated at 9-0. Anastasia Menoudakos leads the team with six goals and five assists.

8. MASSAPEQUA GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

The defending two-time Nassau AA champions continued to roll and are 11-0 heading into the homestretch of the regular season.

9. WHITMAN FOOTBALL

The Wildcats have rolled to a 5-0 start behind quarterback Nicholas Bottoni. The offense has averaged 38 points per game and rolled past Floyd, the defending champion, 27-0, on the road.

10. MASSAPEQUA FOOTBALL

The defending Nassau Conference I champions are off to a 5-0 start behind first-year starting quarterback Ryan Heidrich.
