Olivia Docyk is a playmaker.

The Carle Place senior midfielder scored a goal and assisted on four others as Carle Place beat Cold Spring Harbor, 7-1, to capture the Nassau Class C field hockey championship at Berner Middle School in Massapequa.

It was the ninth straight Nassau crown for the top-seeded Frogs. They will meet Pierson for the eighth time in the Long Island Class C title game. Last season, Pierson defeated Carle Place 3-0.

Docyk found Maria Norman for the opening goal early in the first quarter for the 1-0 lead.

"They have a solid defensive unit,” Docyk said. “I was just trying to work around them and send the ball into the circle where I knew my teammates would come through.”

Carle Place closed the first quarter with a goal off the stick of Elise Biggin. She turned a nice pass from Docyk into the Frogs' second goal and a 2-0 advantage.

Docyk wasn’t finished. She found Madeline Rubenacker off a strategic corner play and Carle Place led 3-0 at the half.

Carle Place would score three more goals in the third quarter. Luna Coronel took a break from making the insert on one of Carle Place’s 12 corners, and swapped with Docyk for an incredible pop-up shot that soared past Cold Spring Harbor goalkeeper Rose Rodgers to make it 4-0.

“Last time we played them, we saw that [Rodgers] came out pretty far,” said Carle Place coach Elissa Frein. “We knew we had to get her to pull the ball out and then work behind her.”

Rodgers made 11 saves for the Seahawks.

The Frogs went up to 5-0 when Docyk scored using a reverse shot late in the third quarter. Cold Spring Harbor’s Kylie Drakos helped the Seahawks avoid the shutout when she scored on a direct shot to make it 5-1.

Mia Babino added a goal in each of the third and fourth quarters for the final margin.

“Once I found the pockets, I didn’t even think,” Babino said. “I just fired it in.”
