Comsewogue field hockey team makes huge turnaround
The numbers are looking good for Comsewogue.
At 8-3, with three games to play, the Warriors appear to be a lock for the Suffolk field hockey playoffs, quite a turnaround from their 3-11 record in 2016.
Senior midfielder Hannah Dorney said it’s all about teamwork.
“Besides coming together as not only a team but a family our main goal from Day One has been to make the playoffs,” said Dorney, who leads the team with seven goals. “We have had a surprisingly unbelievable season and hope to continue that. I think we would all just love a chance to show everyone in this division how good we can be being that we are almost the underdog in a way.”
Jacqueline Wilko, in her first season as head coach, said the team is a tight-knit group both on and off the field.
“For me in my first year coaching, I don’t think I could have asked for a better team,” she said. “They’re funny, they’re kind and they want to play. They give everything they have all the time.”
