C-I: Ellers' four TDs lead MacArthur
Brett Ellers rushed for 147 yards on 16 carries and scored four touchdowns to lead MacArthur to a 50-6 win over Port Washington yesterday in Nassau I football.
Ellers scored on each of MacArthur's first three possessions in the first quarter with TD runs of 11, 4 and 17 yards. Tyler Eppich had five carries for 60 yards, including a 29-yard touchdown run to give MacArthur (7-1) a 30-0 lead midway through the second quarter.
Port Washington is 0-8.
East Meadow 45, Syosset 6: East Meadow (7-1) scored 39 points in the first quarter on five touchdowns and one safety. East Meadow's defense accounted for 14 points in the quarter. Evan Pantofel had a safety, Andrew Lynch opened the scoring with a 52-yard interception return and Chris Green scored on a 6-yard fumble return.
Robbie Healy had nine carries for 98 yards and three touchdowns, giving him 23 total touchdowns for the season. Syosset is 1-7.
Massapequa 54, Hempstead 0: Matt Pagano went 3-for-5 for 82 yards and three touchdowns, and ran for 45 yards to lead Massapequa (6-2). Taylor Bocchiaro ran for 86 yards and three TDs and Harry Lowe had two catches for 60 yards and two TDs.
John Dillon had 12 tackles, a sack and a fumble recovery, and Vassili Grigorakos made 12 tackles for a Chiefs defense that had seven fumble recoveries. Hempstead is 3-5.
Valley Stream Central 6, Plainview JFK 0: Freshman quarterback Vito Friscia rushed for a 5-yard touchdown midway through the first quarter to lead Valley Stream (2-6). The game was called at halftime, by mutual agreement, because of inclement weather. Kwesi Harrison had 15 carries for 60 yards in the win. Plainview JFK is 1-7.
