C-IV: Valley Stream North upsets Seaford
Anthony Martelli completed 10 of 19 passes for 156 yards and two touchdowns and Ed Dietrich made a game-saving tackle on fourth-and-goal at the half-yard line with 1:20 left to help No. 5 Valley Stream North upend four-time defending Nassau IV champ Seaford, 21-16, in a conference quarterfinal yesterday.
Martelli hit Jesse Oppenheimer for a 39-yard score in the third quarter to give Valley Stream North a lead 21-9. Seaford answered early in the fourth with a 4-yard scoring run by Nick Fischetti to cut the deficit to 21-16.
Billy Patsos had 16 rushes for 52 yards and four catches for 49 yards with two total touchdowns. Patsos also had a sack.
Kendel Levy led Valley Stream North (8-1) with 15 tackles and Joe White added 11 tackles.
Valley Stream North will play No. 2 Roosevelt in a semifinal on Thursday at 4 pm. at Hofstra University.
Roosevelt 21, Cold Spring Harbor 0: Marquell Saunders scored on a 12-yard pass from Robert Sweeney and Erin Parker scored on a 4-yard run on the first two possessions for No. 2 Roosevelt (7-2) in a Nassau IV quarterfinal. Parker carried 18 times for 187 yards and Sweeney completed 4 of 5 passes for 50 yards and two touchdowns.
Manny Jones had 12 tackles, Neftali Henderson, Chris Anderson and Raymond Jones each had a sack and Teddy Santana had an interception for the Rough Rivers.
East Rockaway 36, West Hempstead 21: Nick Ulip ran for 74 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries to lead No. 6 East Rockaway (5-4) in a Nassau IV quarterfinal. Luke Fahrenkrug added 67 yards and a score on 10 carries and Sean Bohan threw for 69 yards and a touchdown and ran for another. David McClure led with six tackles. West Hempstead finishes at 6-3.
Locust Valley 39, Mineola 13: Joe Jacobi completed 4 of 7 passes for 87 yards and a touchdown and ran for 81 yards and a TD on two carries for No. 1 Locust Valley (8-1) in a Nassau IV quarterfinal.
Locust Valley will play in a semifinal at Hofstra on Thursday at 7:30.
