Can Bay Shore keep rolling in playoffs?

3. Football — Bay Shore beats Floyd (Oct. 29)
Bay Shore clinched a playoff spot with a shocking 24-7 victory over Floyd in Suffolk I. It was the fourth win in a row for Bay Shore, which entered the game just 3-4. The Marauders overcame severe weather — “It was raining sideways,” coach Jim Giattino said. Griffin Rock, a linebacker, made 12 tackles, five for losses, two sacks and a fumble recovery. Ousman Camara, also a linebacker, made 18 tackles.
Senior quarterback Lucas Rock, Griffin’s cousin, had 88 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries. He scored the game’s first touchdown on a 3-yard run and added a 9-yard scoring run in the fourth quarter. Daquan Dunkley had nine carries for 126 yards, including a 41-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter that made it 24-0. Senior Tyler White, a four-year kicker, nailed a 40-yard field goal in the second quarter.

The football postseason starts Friday night with eight games on the schedule. The most interesting may be at No. 2 Longwood where the upstart Marauders of Bay Shore (4-4) come in on the heels of a shocking 24-7 blowout of Floyd in Suffolk I. Game time is 6 p.m. for this one.
No. 7 Bay Shore relies on a quick defense, featuring linebackers Griffin Rock and Ousmane Camara. Quarterback Lucas Rock, Griffin's cousin, leads the offense. Mighty Longwood (7-1) stumbled once this season at Sachem North and features one of Long Island's best offensive lines led by Omari Palmer. The Lions' defense is patrolled by Darius Greene, Chris Faizon and Corey Wallace.
Newfield (5-3) at Riverhead (6-2), Saturday, 2 p.m.:It's never easy facing the same opponent in back-to-back weeks, but that's the case here. No. 5 Newfield was dominant in beating No. 4 Riverhead, 37-0. Mike Silva continues to flourish in his new role shuttling between quarterback and running back. Can Blue Waves QB Ryan Bitzer can untracked this week?
Huntington (4-4) at Islip (5-3), Friday, 6:30 p.m.: The Blue Devils hope quarterback Danny Plant is healthy to duel with Islip signal caller Joe Sabbatino in what should be a Suffolk III thriller. No. 5 Huntington beat No. 4 Islip, 35-32, two weeks ago.
Harborfields (4-4) at Miller Place (6-2), tomorrow, 2 p.m.: No. 6 Harborfields comes into the playoffs on a roll, having walloped Huntington, 30-0, last week behind workhorse Connor Coyle, who ran for 256 yards and also made 13 tackles. No. 3 Miller Place has had a fine season, led by QB Matt Hinchy, who ran for three touchdowns last week.
Oceanside (4-4) at MacArthur (7-1), Friday, 6:30 p.m.: These teams played a regular-season nail-biter, with No. 3 MacArthur pulling out a 20-18 Week 7 win in Nassau I. But No. 6 Oceanside has had the tougher schedule this season, and that may prepare Sailors quarterback Tom Capone and company better for this rematch.
Massapequa (6-2) at Baldwin (6-2), Saturday, 3 p.m.: Here's the only credential Baldwin needs coming into this contest: It defeated Freeport, 32-18, during a snowy Week 8. But there's more. Baldwin held powerful East Meadow to just 20 points in a 20-7 loss and scored a 19-18 comeback win over Oceanside. But No. 4 Baldwin lost 28-14 in Week 3 to . . . No. 5 Massapequa. Massapequa has been a scoring machine this season, counting just East Meadow and Freeport as its only losses.
Long Beach (5-3) at Carey (5-3), Saturday, 2:30 p.m.: No. 3 Carey beat a sometimes deceptively good No. 6 Long Beach team 19-14 in Week 6, as the Marines rallied for 14 fourth-quarter points to make the final result close. Carey, which lost one game 17-16 to Wantagh and trailed Garden City by six points at the half in an eventual 35-8 loss, has been on the cusp of greatness all season. Will this be the week they snatch it?
Division (6-2) at Lynbrook (5-3), Saturday, 3 p.m.: It's been a disappointing season for a No. 3 Lynbrook team that had high hopes, losing convincingly to Bethpage, Floral Park and Lawrence in Nassau III. After starting the season at 3-0, Lynbrook finished on a 2-3 skid. It's final win in that 3-0 start? That would be over No. 6 Division, 42-21, showing that Lynbrook can still pull out the firepower.
