Jack Ryan, Tyler Marquart power Carle Place football to 50-point performance in win over Lawrence

As far as offense goes, this was about as close to perfect as there is.
Motivated by a season-opening loss last week, Carle Place scored a 50-38 win over Lawrence on its homecoming on Friday night in a Nassau Conference IV football game.
The Frogs’ offense took the field for eight total drives and scored on every single one of them, with seven of those possessions ending with touchdowns.
“We took a very tough loss last week, so we had to step up and show everyone else in the conference what we’re all about," senior quarterback Jack Ryan said. "Lawrence is a good team, I’m not going to lie, so I’m excited about this one.”
Last week, Lawrence (1-1) snapped a 28-game losing streak while fielding just 16 players. This week, they had 22, but couldn't make it back-to-back wins, not against an unstoppable Carle Place offense.
Still, Carle Place still needed to make plays in the waning seconds to secure the victory. With 2:39 left in the game, the Frogs had the ball at Lawrence’s 39-yard line and faced a fourth-and-9 while leading 44-38. The Golden Tornadoes — who gained 405 yards from scrimmage and had just scored on their previous possession — still had one more timeout in their back pocket.
Needing a big play, Ryan rolled to his left off the play-action fake and dumped it off to classmate fullback Tyler Marquart, who turned upfield for the first down, broke two tackles and turned it into a 25-yard gain to Lawrence’s 14-yard line. Over the next three plays, Carle Place lost nine yards, but it chewed the game clock down to just 29 seconds remaining.
Now facing a fourth-and-19 from Lawrence's 23-yard line, Ryan lofted one up into the end zone for Marquart off a wheel route. He caught it for a touchdown despite being interfered with to put the game out of reach. That play officially helped the Frogs (1-1) make last week’s 47-14 loss to North Shore a distant memory.
Marquart remembered last week every time he touched the ball. He ran with purpose all night long, with most of his yards coming after contact. He finished with seven receptions for 178 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed nine times for 84 yards and another score.
Marquart even lost his helmet while taking a big hit in the third quarter, but he stayed in the game and proceeded to score his final two touchdowns after that.
“That’s just the player I am,” he said. “Obviously, I took that loss last week personally. I strived this week to really put the team on my back and really just score. I was trying to be the leader tonight.”
Senior quarterback Khalil Brassell threw for 174 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 201 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries for Lawrence.
Ryan completed 10 of his 11 passes for 228 yards and three touchdowns. He also ran seven times for 36 yards and another score.
“My coaches told me that I had to lead my team,” he said. “I was helping call the plays, and Tyler did a great job taking the game over. n that final possession, I told the coaches that we’ve got to put the ball in the end zone right now."
