Nate Chavious rushed for 166 yards on 22 carries and scored on a 19-yard touchdown to give Bellport the lead for good in the third quarter en route to a 14-12 win over Amityville yesterday in Suffolk III football.

After Chavious gave Bellport (1-1) a 7-6 lead, Justin Tripodi added a 1-yard TD run in the fourth quarter to make it 14-6.

Sean Walters connected with Dion Richards on a screen for a 26-yard TD with 7:07 left in the fourth quarter to pull Amityville (1-1) within two points.

On the ensuing kickoff, Johnathan Jara recovered his own teammate's fumble after a scrum to help preserve the win.

Dylan Overton and Connor Cipp each had eight tackles for Bellport.

Sayville 21, Islip 0: Zach Sirico threw a 42-yard touchdown pass to Matt Starr on Sayville's first possession and the Golden Flashes added two fourth-quarter touchdowns: a 13-yard interception return by Patrick Waters and a 4-yard run by Matt Selts. Sayville, the defending Class III Long Island champion, is 2-0. Islip is 0-2.

Miller Place 21, Comsewogue 0: Adin Greenfield rushed for 128 yards and two touchdowns to lead Miller Place (2-0) over Comsewogue (0-2). Brett Osman added 143 yards on 18 carries for Miller Place. Alex Greenidge had 12 tackles in the win.Deer Park 29, Eastport-South Manor 0:Jasawn Thompson rushed for 142 yards on 16 carries and scored on runs of 32, 8 and 28 yards for Deer Park (1-1). E-SM is 0-2.

Kings Park 35, Hauppauge 7: Joe Guercio was 8-for-10 passing for 86 yards and three TDs and Tom Milich had 26 carries for a career-high 216 yards and two TDs for Kings Park (2-0). Hauppauge is 0-2.

Harborfields 27, Westhampton 20: Andrew Widmer found Charlie Fellmeth for a 9-yard TD to give Harborfields (1-1) a 27-20 lead with 8:07 remaining. Tanner Morrow's interception with two minutes left sealed it. Dylan Piscitelli had 25 carries for 106 yards and 10 tackles. Westhampton is 1-1.Huntington 31, Rocky Point 22: Ben Kocis threw for 161 yards and a TD for Huntington (2-0). Josh Long had five catches for 106 yards and a TD. Levar Butts had 10 tackles. Rocky Point is 1-1.
