CHSFL to feature state championship game this year

There's even more motivation for rivals St. Anthony's and Chaminade to win the CHSFL championship this year. For the first time, more than local bragging rights will be at stake.
This season's CHSFL champion will face the Buffalo Catholic League champion on Nov. 29 in a state Catholic schools championship game. The site of the game has yet to be determined.
St. Anthony's won the CHSFL title last year and has won 11 of the past 13 league crowns. Chaminade won the championship in 2012. St. Anthony's is the No. 1 seed this year, with Chaminade seeded second.
Yankee Stadium annually hosts the PSAL championship, and St. Anthony's coach Rich Reichert said the Catholic leagues are in discussion with the Yankees about playing the state title game in the Bronx.
"We're hoping for Yankee Stadium to make the first one special," Reichert said.
Eventually, Reichert said, the game would be a "true" state Catholic schools championship once teams from Rochester, Syracuse and Albany participate in what would become a playoff tournament.
