It was a banner day for the Crossan family.
Earlier in the day, Dalton Crossan, the 2011 Hansen Award winner, totaled 131 all-purpose yards and scored two touchdowns on a 17-yard catch and a 56-yard run in New Hampshire's 45-7 win over Lafayette in an FCS playoff game.
Dalton, his mother, Sue, and five teammates then settled in at his New Hampshire home and cheered on little brother Trent in the Long Island Class I championship game against Farmingdale.
"It was perfect timing," said Mike Crossan, the boys' father. "We watched Dalton at noon on ESPN3 and then my wife said the guys watched the Sachem North game on MSG Varsity's livecast in the evening."
Trent Crossan gave the college guys in New Hampshire a lot to cheer about. He scored on a 3-yard run in the second quarter and added the winning touchdown on a 15- yard run with 2:50 remaining as Sachem North pulled out a 27-21 upset win over previously undefeated Farmingdale.
"The support and love they have for each other is really touching," Mike Crossan said. "There is no sibling rivalry at all. They want only the best."
Trent Crossan, back from a severe leg injury, also played an integral part in a swarming Sachem North defense, moving from outside linebacker to inside when Anthony Ross got hurt. Crossan's speed helped negate Farmingdale's cutback runs.
