Long Island high school football's Gridiron Greats for Week 2
GEO ALVAREZ, Floyd: He caught two passes for 68 yards and a touchdown and returned a fumble 16 yards for a TD in a 46-28 win over Lindenhurst. He added five tackles and an interception.
ANDREW AMARANDO, Connetquot: He caught three touchdown receptions, including the 7-yard winner in overtime of a 21-14 decision over Sachem North. He had seven catches for 151 yards and sealed the win with a diving OT interception.
DAVIEN BENJAMIN-SHEFFEY, Longwood: He had a 69-yard scoring run and a 78-yard receiving TD in a 38-15 win over Whitman. He added four tackles, including two for a loss and a sack.
SEAN CASEY, Shoreham-Wading River: He ran 28 times for 178 yards and three TDs, including the winning 1-yard score with 1:29 left in a 42-36 win over Glenn. He finished with 260 all-purpose yards and 10 tackles.
LOUIS D’AGOSTINO, Chaminade: He had three sacks in a 24-12 win over St. John the Baptist.
JUSTIN DePIETRO, Carey: The sophomore running back carried 16 times for 134 yards and three touchdowns — on runs of 4, 4 and 43 — in a 34-14 win over Long Beach.
ELIJAH DUNCAN, Wyandanch: He rushed for 311 yards and four scores in a 39-14 win over Southampton. He had 441 all-purpose yards and five TDs.
JIMMY GASTON JR., Central Islip: He had 13 carries for 122 yards and two touchdowns, including the winning 73-yard TD with five minutes remaining in a 14-10 win over Patchogue-Medford.
DEVON GONZALEZ, Glen Cove: He rushed 20 times for 210 yards and three touchdowns in a 40-20 win over Baldwin.
HAUPPAUGE OL: Center Brady Wahl, guards Josh Snell, Brandon Beauchamp and Saverio Barbera and tackles Dom Green and Reuben Lewin cleared the way for 390 yards rushing in a 41-7 win over Harborfields.
OLIVER IACOBAZZI, Wantagh: He had caught a 22-yard touchdown, ran for a 50-yard score and threw a 65-yard TD pass in a 41-0 win over Locust Valley.
JAYDEN JEAN, Bay Shore: He had 102 yards rushing and two TDs in a 27-14 victory over Brentwood. He added seven tackles, including two for a loss and a sack.
AZIZ KAMRAN, Herricks/Wheatley: He had five receptions for 130 yards and three touchdowns in a 40-14 win over Hempstead. He also had an interception and became the program leader in receiving TDs with 14, according to coach Tom Graef.
JAWARA KEAHEY, North Babylon: He rushed for 262 yards and three touchdowns, including the go-ahead 62-yard score with 1:17 remaining, in a 20-15 win over Bellport.
LUKE LOIACONO, Northport: He had 13 carries for 168 yards and four touchdowns in a 28-14 win over West Islip.
JEREMIAH LUCIANO, Amityville: He blocked a field-goal attempt with seven seconds left in a 27-24 win over Kings Park. He completed 15 of 23 passes for 257 yards and three TDs and ran for a 12-yard score. He also had 10 tackles and the win broke an 11-game losing streak for Amityville.
GARY MERRILL, St. Anthony’s: He completed 16 of 24 pass for 226 yards and two touchdowns and added 27 carries for 168 yards and three scores in a 35-27 win over Farrell.
JESSE SEDER, MacArthur: He had 30 carries for 285 yards and three touchdowns, including a 71-yard score in a 36-28 win over New Hyde Park.
DILLON TVETER, Oceanside: He caught three passes for 150 yards and three touchdowns in a 51-34 win over Syosset.
LUCAS WEAVER, Connetquot: He had 13 tackles, one for a loss and a fumble recovery in a 21-14 overtime win over Sachem North.
AIDAN WINTER, Babylon: He rushed for 175 yards and two touchdowns on seven carries in a 32-17 win over Port Jefferson.
