Haggart, Sayville rally for Division III win
John Haggart scored on touchdowns runs of 1 and 12 yards in the second quarter as Sayville overcame a two-touchdown deficit in the first quarter for a 41-26 win over Kings Park Saturday in Suffolk Division III football.
Haggart rushed for 93 yards on 17 carries and Steve Ferreira completed 11 of 17 passes for 225 yards and three TDs. Matt Ali led the Sayville defense with eight tackles. Kings Park is 1-3.
Huntington 24, Miller Place 14: James Taylor's 88-yard kickoff return at the start of the second half gave Huntington (3-1) a 17-0 lead. Taylor had nine carries for 113 yards and 210 all-purpose yards. Dante Allen had five tackles and two sacks, Trevon Toney added 10 tackles and Devon Nelson had eight tackles for Huntington. Miller Place is 2-2.
Harborfields 34, Shoreham-Wading River 0: Sean Clark connected on a 39-yard scoring pass to Greg FitzMaurice early in the second quarter to give Harborfields (1-3) the 21-0 lead. Defensive end Ben Tunick had a sack and 10 tackles, while Jason Tromblee, Kyle Natiello and FitzMaurice each had a sack. Nico Amantia rushed for 141 yards on 14 carries in the win. Shoreham-Wading River is 0-4.
Westhampton 25, Amityville 24:Cory Schulz scored on a 1-yard touchdown run with 37 seconds left to lift Westhampton (3-1) Friday night. Schulz was 10-for-20 passing for 146 yards and two touchdowns and had 14 carries for 37 yards and one rushing touchdown.
