Hunter's 2 TDs power SJB over Bishop Ford
Derelle Hunter carried 27 times for 227 yards and two touchdowns for St. John the Baptist in a 15-0 win over Bishop Ford in CHSFL football Sunday.
Hunter has 1,124 rushing yards on the season. St. John the Baptist (2-2) controlled the game defensively as Jonathon Force had two sacks and Chris McCarthy had nine stops and a sack.
St. John the Baptist led 8-0 at the end of the third quarter after a safety and a 3-yard run by Hunter.
Hunter provided the final margin with a 26-yard scamper in the fourth quarter. Bishop Ford dropped to 1-3.
St. Anthony's 56, St. Joseph by the Sea 14: Brian Sherlock carried seven times for 103 yards and four touchdowns and Mike Schillizzi added two rushing touchdowns for St. Anthony's (5-0) in the CHSFL. Charlie Raffa threw for 79 yards and rushed six times for 109 yards and a TD. Tyler McLees led the Friars' defense with nine tackles and T.J. Klement returned a fumble 71 yards for a touchdown to provide the final margin. St. Joseph by the Sea dropped to 3-2.
Mepham 14, New Hyde Park 7: Nick White carried 11 times for 144 yards and capped an 87-yard drive with a 9-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to give Mepham (4-1) a 14-7 lead in Conference II. Vin Moryc had a 2-yard touchdown reception with 42 seconds left in the third quarter to tie the score at 7 for Mepham. Elias Lozada had six tackles and a sack and Joe Dentici added six tackles and a fourth-quarter interception to help seal the win. New Hyde Park is 2-3.Glen Cove 29, Division 19: Chris Saperstein had eight carries for 177 yards and a touchdown to lead Glen Cove (3-2) in Nassau Conference III. Shaheem Lilly had eight carries for 93 yards and two touchdowns, including a 49-yard run to provide the final margin for Glen Cove. Division is 1-4.
Seaford 41, North Shore 13: Justin Buckley had 16 carries for 115 yards and two touchdowns to lead Seaford (5-0) in Conference IV. Joe Kirincic threw for 113 yards, including a 25-yard scoring pass to Mike Lasher to put Seaford ahead 20-0 in the second quarter. John Troisi added 102 rushing yards on 12 carries, Victor Belgiornio had eight tackles and a sack and Billy Papadimas had seven stops and a sack. North Shore is 2-3.
Clarke 20, Cold Spring Harbor 12: Mike Martiello had touchdown runs of 8 and 6 yards to lead Clarke (3-2) in Conference IV. Brandon Abbott added 142 yards and a 21-yard scoring run to give Clarke a 14-12 lead in the third quarter. CSH is 3-2.
Rocky Point 32, Shoreham-Wading River 0: Joe Kingston ran 23 times for 229 yards and two TDs as Rocky Point (1-4) picked up its first win of the season in Suffolk Division III on Saturday. Ryan Peacock completed 4 of 6 passes for 64 yards and two touchdowns as Rocky Point amassed 342 yards of total offense. Vin Loscalzo had six tackles, Charlie Prechtl five tackles and Ryan Palasek had a fumble recovery and five stops to lead a defense that limited Shoreham-Wading River (0-5) to fewer than 100 yards of total offense.
