Nick Filocamo ran 2 yards for a touchdown with 2:21 left in the fourth quarter for the game’s final points as Island Trees defeated Mineola, 32-27, in Nassau Conference IV football on Saturday.
Mike Coppeto rushed for 227 yards and three touchdowns on 15 carries and added five receptions for 37 yards, including a 10-yard touchdown reception for Island Trees. His 10-yard touchdown reception from Nick Saragossi tied the score at 20 for Island Trees. Coppeto followed with a 39-yard touchdown run to give Island Trees a 26-20 lead in the third quarter.
Clarke 18, Cold Spring Harbor 12: Justin Somyak caught a 20-yard touchdown from Giancarlo Rengifo in double overtime for Clarke (2-0). Giancarlo Rengifo had an 11-yard touchdown pass to Nick Iannucci with less than a minute left in the fourth quarter to tie the score at 12 for Clarke, which was stopped on the ensuing two-point conversion to force overtime. Sam Bruno ran for two touchdowns to give Cold Spring Harbor a 12-0 lead with six minutes left in the fourth quarter.
North Shore 16, Malverne 0: Nicholas La Rosa’s 50-yard touchdown run, set up by a fumble forced by Patrick Godfrey and recovered by Garret Gates, broke the scoreless tie with 26 seconds left in the first quarter for North Shore (2-0).
West Hempstead 28, Oyster Bay 8: John Bathhazard rushed for 97 yards and two touchdowns for West Hempstead (2-0).
Locust Valley 35, Lawrence 7: Christian Corey completed 3 of 4 passes for 45 yards and two touchdowns for Locust Valley (1-1).
Seaford 26, Valley Stream South 0: Aiden Calvacca rushed for 190 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries for Seaford (1-1).
East Rockaway 47, Carle Place/Wheatley 21: John Giannotti rushed for 142 yards and three touchdowns on eight carries for East Rockaway (1-1).
