McLune TD lifts Farmingdale
Farmingdale drove 73 yards on six plays — all 73 yards recorded by Jordan McLune, who capped off the series with a 4-yard off-tackle touchdown run — with a little more than two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter to break the tie at 21 in the Dalers’ 28-21 win over East Meadow in Nassau I football Friday night. McLune’s 53-yard swing pass from Tom Donovan was the key play to set up the score. Corey Hill’s 8-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter tied the score at 21 for Farmingdale (6-0).
Donovan finished 10 of 16 for 197 yards and a touchdown and McLune rushed for 103 yards and two scores on 22 carries and had six receptions for 122 yards, including an 11-yard score. Joe Quinn had 14 tackles and Hill added 13 tackles.
Massapequa 21, Baldwin 20: The Massapequa defense stopped Baldwin on fourth down on the Chiefs’ 45-yard line with 1:12 remaining to secure the win. Garrett Gibbons ran for 76 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries for Massapequa (5-1). Anthony Buckshaw ran for 81 yards on seven carries and Dan Callan and Frank Tofano each had 10 tackles.
Oceanside 26, Hempstead 6: Tommy Heuer completed 15 of 21 passes for 164 yards and a touchdown to lead Oceanside (3-3). Derek Cruz had seven receptions for 73 yards. George Potaris led the defense with nine tackles. Bernie Diaz had an interception and six tackles.
Westbury 40, Hicksville 0: Viron Jones completed 3 of 4 passes for 83 yards and two touchdowns — a 48-yard touchdown to Remy Bailey and an 18-yard touchdown to Darius Young — to lead Westbury (3-4). Young also returned an interception 30 yards for a score, while Mike Francis returned an interception 25 yards for a score.
Freeport 49, Syosset 7: Elyjah Campbell had four touchdowns, including a 55-yard run with 1:29 left in the first quarter and a 61-yard run with 9:54 remaining in the second that opened up a 20-7 lead for Freeport (5-1). He had 189 yards on eight carries and made two interceptions. Rashad Tucker opened the scoring with a 24-yard run. Chris Alexandre had a touchdown and 22 yards on three carries.
Valley Stream Central 23, Plainview JFK 13: Shalome Clarke had two touchdowns to lead Valley Stream Central (5-2). Chimdi Ukanwonke made a 25-yard field goal in the first quarter to give Valley Stream Central a 3-0 lead. The fifth win of the season matches the most for the program since 1993, said coach Mike Rubino.
