Tomaso Ramos, Farmingdale running back, dashes downfield after finding an opening in the third quarter of a Nassau Conference I football game against host Syosseton Oct. 9, 2021. Credit: James Escher

Thomas Fletcher rushed for 71 yards and two touchdowns on 17 carries for Westbury in a 22-7 victory over Hicksville in a Nassau I football game. The win was Westbury’s first in three years. Fletcher also had four tackles for a loss on defense. Donnell Lauriston had one interception and seven tackles and Kenson Gervais added nine solo tackles, a sack, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

Port Washington 40, Freeport 36: Josh McCarthy threw for 238 yards and two touchdowns on 10 of 18 passing and ran for 117 yards and two touchdowns to lead Port Washington. He scored the go-ahead 9-yard touchdown run off a botched snap on a field goal attempt with three seconds left. Luke Meyer’s 14-yard touchdown run cut the Freeport lead to 30-27. Meyer rushed for 70 yards on 15 carries. Harrison Behan had 114 all-purpose yards (48 rushing, 66 receiving). Jake Sicilano caught three passes for 53 yards and a touchdown. Haiden Nadboy made 7.5 tackles and recovered a fumble for a touchdown in the first quarter.

Hempstead 19, Oceanside 13: Dwayne Meadors rushed for 135 yards on 13 carries to lead Hempstead in a 19-13 victory over Oceanside. Jakkai Stith rushed for 113 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries and threw for one touchdown. His scramble on fourth-and-six late in the fourth quarter sealed the win.

 East Meadow 30, Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK 6: Brandon Tauber ran for 101 yards and a 20-yard touchdown on eight carries to lead East Meadow. Joe Festa ran for 47 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries. His two-yard run in the second quarter gave the Jets a 13-6 lead. He added a six-yard touchdown in the third quarter. Joseph Arbitello made eight tackles and Brandon Kebreau had five tackles, two for a loss, and a sack. Anthony Pastore intercepted a pass and recovered a fumble. East Meadow scored 30 unanswered points after allowing the opening score.

Farmingdale 48, Valley Stream Central 0: Tomaso Ramos had 104 yards rushing on six carries with two touchdowns to lead Farmingdale. Adryan Jiminez added 36 yards rushing on six carries and Sal Posillico added another 60 yards on five carries. Anthony Licci was 4-for-6 passing for 70 yards and a touchdown. The Dalers defense led by Trevor Gayron and Joe Bleck (10 tackles each) forced two turnovers.

Syosset 35, Uniondale 7: Darrin Costa rushed for two touchdowns for Syosset. John Munoz opened the scoring with a 19-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Michael Ricciuto added a 10-yard rushing touchdown in the second and Nick Padula scored a 6-yard rushing touchdown in the third.
