Craig Berge caught the go-ahead touchdown, a 10-yard touchdown pass from Matt Caracappa, as Massapequa erased a six-point lead early in the fourth quarter to outlast East Meadow, 48-40, yesterday in Nassau I.

Minutes later Massapequa (2-0) increased the lead on Paul Dilena's 4-yard touchdown run. That score was set up by Nick Balzano's 17-yard catch on 4th-and-6.

East Meadow (0-2) took a 34-28 lead with a 27-point second quarter that included consecutive 1-yard scoring runs by John Wilson, who had 20 carries for 76 yards.

The Chiefs answered on Dilena's 2-yard, third-quarter run, but Bobby Bender's 1-yard run reclaimed the five-point lead for East Meadow and set up the fourth quarter theatrics.

Caracappa completed 17 of 25 passes for 222 yards and four touchdowns. Berge made five receptions and caught two touchdown passes. Balzano had a game-high 13 tackles for Massapequa.

Baldwin 49, Hempstead 14: Gerard Lyle caught two touchdown passes and returned a punt for a score, and Derek Drew rushed for 92 yards on 11 carries with two touchdowns to lead Baldwin (2-0). Lyle caught a 20-yard pass from Tyler Warner right before halftime to give Baldwin a 35-0 lead. Warner completed six of six passes for 68 yards and two touchdowns. Tyshawn Harris and Mylz Wilson each had interceptions for Baldwin. Hempstead is 1-1.

Plainview JFK 14, Hicksville 0: Nicco Mueller ran for 138 yards on 21 carries with two touchdowns to lead Plainview JFK (1-1) on Friday night. Mueller punctuated a nine-play, 63-yard drive with a 15-yard run up the middle with 4:39 left in the first. In the fourth, Mueller added an 11-yard TD run. Plainview JFK middle linebacker Max Freidman made nine tackles with an interception. Vinny Ruggerio had three sacks and a fumble recovery for Plainview JFK. Mueller had 21 rushes for 138 yards. Hicksville is 0-2.

Freeport 46, Uniondale 20: D'Monte Woody scored three straight times -- a 50-yard run with 2:46 left in the first and runs of 6 and 12 for Freeport (1-1). He had 12 rushes for 129 yards, with four touchdowns. Davelle Hooks was 7-for-12 for 110 yards and passed for a touchdown. Uniondale is 0-2.
