Carey’s Conte: 6 TDs in 55-54 thriller over Long Beach

Dan Conte completed 5 of 7 passes for 200 yards and four touchdowns, and rushed for 136 yards and two TDs on 17 carries for Carey, which held off Long Beach’s fourth-quarter rally in a 55-54 win in Nassau II Saturday.

Shaheem Taylor-White had 182 rushing yards on 21 carries and a touchdown reception for Carey (2-2), which entered the fourth quarter with a 55-40 lead. Two Long Beach touchdowns brought it within a point, but a missed extra-point allowed Carey to hold onto a one-point lead late in the fourth. Dominic Scorcia’s interception with less than two minutes remaining sealed the victory.

Tyler DeMeo’s 68-yard touchdown catch gave Carey a 20-12 lead late in the first quarter. DeMeo had three catches for 134 yards and two touchdowns. Taylor-White scored on a 41-yard TD pass from Conte to give Carey a 42-20 lead.

Great Neck North 26, Jericho 22: Ariel Navi caught a 41-yard touchdown pass from Noah Hakim with five minutes remaining to lead Great Neck North (2-2). Hakim entered the game after an injury to starting quarterback Jared Kaiman in the second quarter. Aaron Lopez had nine tackles, a sack and a forced fumble. Jeremy Landsman had seven tackles, two sacks and returned a fumble 70 yards for a touchdown.

MacArthur 12, Manhasset 7: Benny Orlando had 14 carries for 94 yards and two touchdowns to lead MacArthur (2-2). Orlando scored twice in the second half and had the go-ahead touchdown with a 1:53 remaining in the third quarter. Tom Cummings added 16 rushes for 78 yards and Calvin Louie had nine rushes for 63 yards. Ryan O’Shea had 11 tackles. Bob Fehrenbach picked up his 100th career win, according to Fehrenbach.

Mepham 29, Calhoun 7: Michael Valentino had 20 carries for 140 yards and four touchdowns to lead Mepham (3-1). Matt Conry had three catches for 63 yards. Valentino had 10 tackles, and Owen Haeseker had eight tackles. Luis Nieves had one interception.

Bellmore JFK 30, Sewanhaka 16: Dom Brocco had 21 carries for 188 yards and three touchdowns to lead Bellmore JFK (3-1). Anthony Maffucci pinned three punts inside the 10 and one inside the 20. He totaled six punts for 213 yards. Nick Blouin had an interception and a sack.
