Nassau II roundup: Catapano leads Carey

Senior quarterback Ray Catapano ran for a career-high 154 yards and two rushing touchdowns on nine carries and completed 10 of 16 passes for 124 yards and three scores to lead Carey to a 42-6 victory over MacArthur yesterday in Nassau II.
The Seahawks (8-0) completed an unbeaten regular season for the second time in four years.Garden City 47, Elmont 27: Brett Stewart was 13-for-22 for 215 yards and a touchdown, ran for 76 yards and two touchdowns and caught a 60-yard touchdown pass to lead Garden City (7-1). Wantagh 39, Bellmore JFK 14: Fullback Chris Burke's 30-yard run gave Wantagh (6-2) a 20-0 lead on the opening drive of the third quarter. Burke also made 10 tackles on defense.
Long Beach 30, Westbury 12: Chris Parler rushed for 126 yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries to lead Long Beach (5-3). Tyreek Bromley rushed for 106 yards on six carries.
South Side 27, Calhoun 21: Luke Scaduto's 5-yard touchdown run with 7:38 left in the fourth quarter put South Side (3-5) up for good, 27-21. Alex Pickett carried 13 times for 97 yards. Calhoun (2-6) scored on three consecutive possessions to tie it early in the fourth quarter.Mepham 42, Herricks 7: Isaac Lozada recovered a punt that was blocked by Ian Avanzato and ran it in 10 yards for a touchdown to open the scoring for Mepham (4-4). Chris Durkin ran for 133 yards and three touchdowns.
