Ruddick-to-Keane propels VSN

Dan Keane caught a 9-yard touchdown from John Ruddick to give Valley Stream North (3-4) the lead over Bethpage in Nassau III football on Saturday, a lead the Spartans held on to, winning, 14-7, after stopping Bethpage at the 9-yard line on the final play. Ruddick connected with Jordan Lucia on fourth-and-6 from the 16-yard line for a first down to set up the winning play.

Lawrence 16, Lynbrook 14: Kevin Rodriguez’s 25-yard field goal with 5:50 left in the fourth quarter lifted Lawrence (6-1). Rodriguez made all three of his field goal attempts (29, 48, 25). Lynbrook’s Nick Tuzzio’s 54-yard run, followed by a Spencer Sundeberg extra point, with 11:15 left in the third quarter gave the Owls a 14-13 lead. Christian Fredericks rushed for 101 yards on 28 carries and Carlos Duran caught five passes for 25 yards.

Floral Park 28, Glen Cove 22: Cole Horan ran for a 65-yard touchdown on the first play of the game to lead Floral Park (4-3). Horan had 133 yards and two touchdowns on nine carries and added 12 tackles. Kyle Hilaire completed 4 of 9 passes for 93 yards and a touchdown. Harry Fingleton made two field goals of 26 yards and 32 yards and Shane Elia lead the defense with 13 tackles.

South Side 26, New Hyde Park 14: Johnny Pickett ran for 347 yards and four touchdowns on 36 carries to lead South Side (4-3). Pickett scored on runs of 54, 76, 31 and 1 yard. Joey Marasco had an interception with 2:33 remaining to stop New Hyde Park’s final drive.

Wantagh 42, Roslyn 8: Gavin Casey, Pat Walsh and Tom Rohan combined for 26 carries with 266 yards and five touchdowns for Wantagh (6-0). Casey had eight carries for 94 yards and a touchdown. Rohan had 10 carries for 87 yards and two touchdowns. Walsh had eight carries for 81 yards and two touchdowns. Joe Valenti had a forced fumble, a sack and six tackles.

Plainedge 31, Division 14: Alex Brown, Jake Esposito and Dion Kuinlan all ran for touchdowns for Plainedge (3-4). Esposito had 163 yards on 18 carries and Nyko Anatrella had two sacks.

Roosevelt 27, Hewlett 18: Kevon Hall ran 29 times for 284 yards and four touchdowns and had a team-high 11 tackles to lead Roosevelt (6-1). Hall had touchdown runs of 21, 3, 2 and 5 yards. Corey Bull ran 10 times for 82 yards and DaShawn Jackson blocked two extra points.
