Nassau Conference III football Week 1 roundup

Will McMullen had a go-ahead 80-yard touchdown run late in the third quarter to lead Bethpage over Floral Park in a Nassau III football game. McMullen finished with 183 yards on 16 carries and three touchdowns. Ryan Dupre had an interception and Michael Lazaridis had a fumble recovery.
Carey 21, Manhasset 14: Matt Metzger had 79 rushing yards, including a 73-yard rushing touchdown and threw for a touchdown for Carey in Nassau III. Will Tolliver rushed for yards and touchdown on 18 carries and TJ Wakely caught a 34-yard touchdown pass. Tolliver sealed the game with an interception late in the fourth quarter. Jake Vitale and Vincent Tierney each had six tackles. Robert Zitarosa and Matteo Tufano each added five tackles.
Wantagh 16, Hewlett 7: Nick Cupelli rushed for 101 yards on nine carries and Jake Martini gained 90 yards from scrimmage and scored two touchdowns. His 29-yard touchdown catch in the first quarter gave Wantagh a 6-0 lead and his seven-yard touchdown run in the second quarter gave Wantagh a 13-7 lead. Joe Legovich completed five of eight passes for 85 yards and a touchdown. Nico Zervos connected on a 25-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to increase Wantagh’s lead.
Plainedge 42, Division 7: Joe Cassese rushed for 63 yards and two touchdowns on five carries and had four sacks. His two-yard touchdown in the first quarter gave Plainedge a 13-0 lead and his seven-yard run in the second quarter increased the lead to 27-0.
Jake Anglim rushed for 71 yards and a touchdown on three carries. His 56-yard touchdown run came in the third quarter. Caden Morra completed all five of his passes for 72 yards and a touchdown. Shane Mosia led Plainedge with seven tackles.
