Nitti, four TDs running, one passing, leads HHH East
R.J. Nitti ran for four touchdowns and threw for another Saturday as Half Hollow Hills East cruised past Central Islip, 38-14, in its Suffolk I opener.
Nitti scored on runs of 15 and six yards to give Hills East (1-0) a 12-0 lead. Nitti finished with 121 passing and 61 yards on the ground. Rasheed Williams had nine tackles for Hills East, which forced five fumbles.
Ward Melville 41, Brentwood 13: Jake Biro ran for 103 yards and three touchdowns on 14 carries and threw for 83 yards and two touchdowns to lead Ward Melville (1-0). Brendan Hagerty had 132 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries for the Patriots. Matt Corrie had 10 tackles and a sack and Rick Vandenberg had three sacks for Ward Melville.
Connetquot 28, Floyd 21: James Higgins scored on 10-yard pass from Brian McKean with eight seconds left in the game to win it for Connetquot (1-0) on Friday night. McKean threw for 202 yards and two touchdowns. Tyler Torborg had 13 tackles, while Ryan Renfroe had eight tackles and a fumble recovery for Connetquot.
Commack 26, Patchogue-Medford 14: Ryan Heisman completed 16 of 30 passes for 313 yards and four touchdowns to lead Comack (1-0). Paul Maline hauled in eight passes for 233 yards and a score, and John Donovan ran for 113 yards on 10 carries and four sacks. Defensive lineman John Engberg had an interception.
Sachem East 41, Northport 26: Steven Casali had 239 yards rushing and three touchdowns for Sachem East (1-0) on Friday night. Kenny Whigham added 67 yards and three touchdowns, includinga 36-yard score that gave Sachem East a 28-13 lead.
Sachem North 41, Lindenhurst 21: Tyler Andreassi had 16 carries for 130 yards and two touchdowns to lead Sachem North (1-0) on Friday. Kevin Bragaglia added a 17-yard interception return, while Anthony DiMatto hadded six tackles.
