Farmingdale struck quickly and capitalized on a fumble to create a first-quarter hole that East Meadow was unable to escape from Saturday in a Nassau Conference I game. The Dalers caused three turnovers in a 49-28 win.

East Meadow suffered its first defeat of the season and both teams are now 4-1.

"We already had one loss and didn't want to feel that again," said Farmingdale running back Micheal Outing, who finished with two touchdowns and 89 yards on nine carries. "We came in and played Daler football."

Which was an offense that the Jets were unable to stop, except for one first-half drive and one at the end of the game. Outing got the ball rolling on the opening drive, finding a hole for a 34-yard touchdown to cap a five-play, 60-yard drive.

East Meadow fumbled on its first possession and Farmingdale quarterback Michael Scheuerer found receiver Nick Butler wide open for a 35-yard score and a 14-0 lead with 4:19 left in the first. Scheuerer completed 9 of 11 passes for 162 yards and two touchdowns, and Butler had 122 yards on five catches and both scores.

While the Jets were able to get their offense going following the first turnover, every time they scored, the Dalers came back to put points on the board. East Meadow's strength is a bruising running game, not something made for comebacks.

"You get a two-touchdown advantage against someone who is good at running the ball and is not going to score quickly, it puts you in a good position to win football games," Farmingdale coach Buddy Krumenacker said.

The final straw for a potential comeback came late in the third quarter. Trailing 35-21, East Meadow quarterback Anthony Love-Kemper (2 for 5, 62 yards, 2 TD) escaped a sack and scrambled before tossing a 38-yard pass to tight end Zach Fritz. But the play was called back on an illegal man downfield, and the Jets wound up punting. Tommy McPartland returned the kick to the East Meadow 11 and Outing ran it in on the next play.

"I thought the kids did a good job of not quitting," East Meadow coach Vin Mascia said. "We kept coming . . . That completion could've brought us within seven. If we didn't turn the ball over, they weren't stopping us."

Brian Kavanagh led the Jets with 107 yards on 10 carries, Billy Piano had 58 on six rushes and Johnny Wilson ran for 51 yards on 12 carries with two touchdowns. Styvenson Hogarth led Farmingdale with 104 yards on 18 carries. Ahmad Johnson paced the Dalers' defense with 12 tackles.

"The play-calling was there," Scheuerer said. "We were running it great and everything clicked."

All in all, the game was exactly what the Dalers had hoped for.

"The offensive line has played two weeks lights out. Every week we try to get four touchdowns and get three turnovers," Scheuerer said. "The defense causing fumbles makes it easier."
